So there's no way to get a new/reproduction 2-spd wiper motor?

The other night I did a fairly extensive search here and on several parts supplier websites and found no one that carries new and/or reproduction 2-spd wiper motors and only one place that restores them to the tune of nearly $300. Is there no other option but NOS or the old clean-it-up-and-hope-it-works method?

disassembling and cleaning them / painting them is not that difficult...    the 2 speeds are really simple - usually the problem lies on the brush contacts having glade or other buildup on them...    scrape them clean and presto...        I had access to a media cabinet...    lightly blasted, masked and repainted....   took about an hour total...      Pic is below...

3 speeds are a little more work but none of my cars had them except the Road Runner...   and it already works so I'm not going to mess with it.

Mine restored easy also, and I have seen them at large part stores on the net.

3 speds are really easier than 2 speeds. But both are easy as far you find the inner parts to replace, what is not more than simply the gears. Electric pasrt acn be rebuilt to any recoring coils shop or similar

what I have found tipically failing on 2 speeds is really the gear loosen from shaft.

gears are found at ebay quite often

Looks like the same one you can get at Napa or Autozone (and when I ran that P/N is was listed at $120). The other one I listed is the "concourse" model for $399. :rotz:

It's "40-350   $46.99 " on the Auto Zone site I posted way back when.  :shruggy:

Just wondering what this white componant is? Is it a jumper switch to the lower plug in for the two speed function?

resq302

Its a ballast resistor.  Pretty much reduces power for your slow speed if I am correct in my thinking.

I think they are available still.  Might want to check with Bill Alphin and see if he has them.

Went down to Auto Zone and picked up a rebuilt wiper motor today for $55 and then started my quest for the limit resistor, Chrysler p/n 2822261, and discovered they are not real easy to find. Actually, some Chrysler dealerships still have them here and there. There are two in LA and then a bunch scattered all over the east in like Indiana and New York. And then for some strange reason the Family Chrysler/Jeep dealership in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania has 100 of them. :scratchchin: What's that guy up to?

Guess I'll find out tomorrow when I call them.

Hey let me know I want a "backup" of that part too!Thanks......Neal

Just to reiterate, the part number is 2822261 and it's called a two speed wiper limit resistor.

The place in Penn. that allegedly has 100 of them is called Family Chrysler and they didn't really know up from down. They said they had to order the part despite the fact the computer says they have almost all of them that exist, and then they told me they would call me back with more info and they never did. The good news is they say the part is only $5 but of course the bad news is they can't find their own butts with both hands so it's all moot. Their number is (toll free) 888-287-2753. You might try them and see if you have better luck.

The dealership I ended up getting the part from is Lake County Chrysler Dodge in Jamestown, NY and their phone number is 716-484-7125. At first the guy said he had two of them but he could only find one and that's the one I got. It cost $15 and change plus shipping so probably $20-$22.

A dealership in Indiana supposedly has a few and their number is 800-866-2891. I didn't write down the name of that business.

Another venue you might try is this: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=classicVehicles&siteid=214671&year=old They list the part at $7.76 but I've never used that place to buy anything. I'm hoping for some reviews here: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,54625.0.html

The one thing I've done that's helped me a lot when restoring my Charger is to find the help of a local parts guy who's been employed by Dodge/Chrysler for years. Not only do they love it when you give them an old part number they enjoy the challenge of either finding the part in their store room or finding it somewhere in the national parts system and helping you get it. My local parts guy is the one who gave me the part number, description and phone numbers above.

Anyone know exactly how the long metal spacer washers go on the wiper motor?Underside or top side? Thanks.
