Found a great shop here in Maine that loves Mopars, Bob and Cici run "Outrageously Vintage" and I found them through the Sponsors section of the local 1/8 track (Oxford Dragway).

http://www.outrageouslyvintage.com/home.html

Here is a series of pics showing the progess of my 8 3/4 rear.  I scored the rear from Eagle Lake Maine for $550.  I was a 3.91 gearset and the 741 case and gearset date from 1967, so someone did me very well when they upgraded it.

Above, I thought this was interesting, this is the first piece you knock off to press off the bearings.  You grind the retainer and then knock it off with hammer/chisel (being careful not to punch through to the axle).

I was going with new shorter lugs, but found out depending on your track time you may need the longer lugs, being the SB is all forged, Nitrous (I already have a spare intake and direct port started) or a supercharger is not out of the question a few years down the road...so I elected to keep the longer lugs.

The only parts needed was a new clutch pack $75  The case and gearset was in excellent shape considering it is dated to 1967.

Setting up the ring/Pinion Tooth Pattern.

To save a bit on labor, I am going to paint the rear myself in April when its warm!

The Disc Brake kit is a Dr. Diff homegrown for 15" wheels.  He says w/ this kit the additional proportioner is not needed (you turn a valve to adjust the pressure of the rear line), this kit works with the factory brake system.

Thanks Bob and Cici for knocking this out for me on such short notice!

What kind of brake system does Dr. Diff use?  I would assume the parking brake is a set of small shoes inside the rotor?

I will take pics of the back side of the calipers when I pick the axle up, this kit does have Parking brake provision.

I had a Dr. Diff rear disk kit installed on my Charger. However, I've yet to get back to the U.S. to see it. I'll live vicariously through your photos.

Doctor Diff recommends not using the flange type Green Bearing you chose.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

He actually chose everything, the entire kit is from him.  Only thing I choose was 15" wheel size and his "kit" over the SSBC kit  :icon_smile_question:

He had just broke his ankle...maybe the morphine....

I have more to add, but I am in crunch time at home...

I'm surprised, on every other forum he advises using the snap ring type.

I've got the same kit on the Cuda. I believe the rear brakes are actually Ford Explorer-type. The front calipers he sells are Cobra/PBR.

Hold on, have more pics...and the installers take...so many things to do so little time LOL...

The only issue best way I can describe is looking at the picture below.

See the raised part inside the diameter of the axle retainer?  When you put the Bracket on that holds the caliper mounts the piece pictured above sticks out maybe  .050 from being flush.  When you tighten the plate over the end of the axle the plate will naturally bend around it. Bob the installer was not sure what I wanted to do, he suggested machining it, but the disk brake supplied plate is thin to begin with...another option was washers the thickness of the difference.  I chose to tighten the bracket with a feeler gauge at .040 around the retainer and used red locktite on the threads.  I will contact Dr. DIff sometime about it.  I have plenty of time before it goes into the car.

Other than that Bob said it was the best fitting kit he has installed.

The parking brake is mechanical and works well pulling on the cables.

The kit comes with the weld in brake line brackets, as you can see I have three brackets to grind off and alot of wire wheeling to do before paint. First week in April I should have more progress on it and the car.

Another thing Bob liked about the kit was it was all metal, he said some kits use plastic in them.

I need to retract part of my previous statement.

I've got the 11.7 discs out back which use the same calipers, but a different mounting brackets.
