hey i was thinking...this came 2 me while i was on the can actually

has anyone "signed" their car? not just your name but written or stamped something unique anywhere? like while u were restoring it did u in some way sign the back of a body panel or the inside of the valve covers or something in the wheel wells? idk...

i thought it would be cool if i wrote something on the inside of the trunk lid or something on the floor plans...just something to identify the work i did, something memorable, time capsule like if u will... :shruggy:

this may come up empty but has anyone done/thought of doing this?

Yep, I've done it. Me and my dad restored a '70 Buick GSX for his friend. We signed the back of the door panel and put the date and scribed our names into the inside of the oil pan. His friend is now selling it for $90,000.

I've "signed' it with my MIG welder on 2/3rds of the body panels.  My signature just looks like spot welds.

My whole family signs and dates all my restos under the driver's side door sill before we put the plate on.

When I replaced the mirrors on the Charger the door panels were fiberglassed on the bottom to help hold the clips in.  A real jury rig.
So I wrote on both panels that I was not responsible for the mess.  ;)

Not that it matters to the next care taker, I just didn't want to be associated with such shoddy work.

:scratchchin: I like that idea.  I'll have to think of something.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Im having everyone that has worked on or contributed to the project sign the inside of the trunk lid. I also plan on having all my passengers sign the other side of the lid too just for fun.

The thought never crossed my mind.  But it's actually a pretty good idea.  Since mine's all apart right now, I might as well.   :scratchchin:

That is one cool idea. Since my bee is all apart I just might have to do a little of this and that. My welding sigs. are already there but I won't lay claim to that, maybe put someone's name there that I don't care for too much LOL.
