Hi,
I have been a member of another site for many years and since I am now getting my butt moving on my car a member of both sites recomended I visit this board because of the aero forum.
I sat up last night reading page after page of this forum and I must say you all seem like a GREAT group!

ABOUT ME:
I am 45 years old and recently lost my job of 26 years due to the financial crisis going on. I was given a great severence package and while being able to survive on lesser income I have decided to take that money and restore the bird. I have always put this off due to the cost involved.

I bought my 39,980 mile 440+6 4spd superbird in 1987. A friend came knocking on my door and mentioned he had a friend that has a bird and while not activly seeking to sell it he would entertain conversation. I told this friend that I was sooo tired of seeing our beloved mustangs evertime I turn a corner. We were both into restoring/collecting Fords at the time.

when I was finally able to have an opportunity to see the car I took my father with me. When the owner opened the garage door we saw the most beautiful ugly shade of gree I ever saw!   :o  The hood was open with the insulation pad hanging on the air cleaner, the tires were flat, the tranny was sitting on the drivers seat and there was enough dust on it to repave a dirt road. :yesnod:
After BSing for about an hour I decided I wanted the car if he could get it roadworthy. he called about three weeks later and the pre-agreed price went from $10,000 to $12,500 because he did so much work. (he istalled the trans along with a new clutch, several brake lines, a new battery and a few bulbs.)

I went to drive the car and believe it or not I impacted a road dip with enough force to split the oil pan....he was MAD! :flame:.

Anyway I told him I would think on it because I didnt like the price hike. I showed him the 10K cash I took with me and before I got to my car he called me back.

Now I was in the drivers seat and drove the car off for $9800!

The car now has 43,000 or so miles.( I could never get the hang of the 6 pack) It looks like at some point early on the front was dinged and possibly the nose was replaced along with  light fender repairs. possibly some quarter work but not much as everything seems solid. The floors look real nice only some scale in the trunk. the car has the Chrome rally mirrors which I have yet to see on another bird. I replaced the seat covers on the front buckets when I first bought the car and picked up a NOS TicTocTac from the Winged Warriors club newsletter classifieds which I will finally put to use! :icon_smile_tongue:

I also own a RR1 440/Auto 1968 Coronet R/T vert that my father and I bought to replace the GTX we had stolen in 1999.

Im sorry if I introduced myself with TMI but I wanted to give everyone a little piece of what I am.

Looking forward to interacting with everone. :2thumbs:
