what was I thinking! Wow, that was a long way up, which explained why they have you do it in the dark. If you could see where they expected you to go, you'd never do it. There's a mountain at the head of the valley where St. Catherine's monastery is. I was hoping they didn't expect me to go all the way to the top of that. After the sun started coming up the next morning, I was shocked to find I was way above that mountain. Fortunately, it's all trail and steps. I've done it and I'll never do it again.

Photos are a project for tomorrow or the next day. Gotta resize them. They're all over 2mb.

The first thing I thought of was that you made it to the roof of the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

It took me 2.5 hours. One woman in our group did it in 1.5. It took some over 4, some didn't make it and waited at a plateau about 1,000 steps from the top.

On the way up, did you spot an ancient broken stone tablet with commandments #11-15 carved on it?

If I had seen the mountain before I committed to going up there, I wouldn't have gone up there.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I hate to resize these photos down to 200K, but I might have to. I can't seem to figure out how to make the imageshack hosting work on this site. It's automaic on the 3rd gen site.

I've tired of trying to figure out how to post more than a thumbnail here, so I've started putting photos in a thread on the 3rd gen board at:

It's a bit steep up there.

great pictures.. but now the theory is that mt. sinai is not the original mt. sinai.. but rather it is in saudi arabia and currently illegal for people to go there as it is fenced off with barbed wire.

just a theory mind you.

where is that "am i raining on your parade" emoticon?  hehe

seriously.. awesome pictures.. looks very beautiful.

You're not raining on my parade. I'm fully aware that many believe the biblical Mt. Sinai to be in present-day Saudi. I'm not even a little bit religious. What you, or anyone else, believe may, or may not, have taken place up on any of those mountains thousands of years ago is up to you.
