Crazy '70s custom '69 Charger...

This 1969 Charge R/T spent its life on the professional show circuit starting in 1973. It was created by Dalford Adkins from Dayton, Ohio. It is the only known survivor of this car builder who worked with the likes of George Barris. In won numerous awards throughout the years. With the car will be the original show plaque used and a couple of the awards it received. One from 1975 for "Outstanding use of Color" which is very appropriate since he used the actual metal flake to create the various hues of blues, greens and yellows in the murals and another from 1977 for "Best Custom".

The car has only 36,000 original miles. The original 440 magnum engine has been updated with a serpentine belt system and some internal high performance upgrades but for the most part is completely original. The balance of the drive train is 100% original. The entire chassis has been meticulously restored using stainless steel or aircraft bolts, etc. The engine and chassis work was done by the original owner/builder's cousin.

This is not only a very low mileage, documented, one owner (family), 440 magnum Dodge Charger R/T, it is a piece of American car history nostalgia.

This car needs to become part of a serious collection.

that car is nasty and the price is absurd. looks like it came straight out of mexico(no offense). maybe some rich collector who doesn't flinch at the thought of $40k will snag it up, i don't see a normal mopar enthusiast getting that one, low mileage real R/T or not

lot of work gone into that charger .. but in my opinion destroyed one of the  most awesome looking mopars on the planet   
i would by it for 10 k & convert it back to a low miles stock R/T ... the car needs putting out of its misery & returned to stock

I don't care if he worked with Barris or not, that thing is a hideous pimp-mobile that could only be loved by those Lord of the Mullet acid heads at MCG.  You know why it survived?  Because after it got it's 70's award for most far out use of colors man, they all came down off their trip and hid it in a barn.

The side view isn't too bad. I'd get rid of the fuzzy interior, put the grille back to normal and scratch the side pipes and drive it.

I agree with cody, however, I would keep the sidepipes but get rid of the molding over them.. I would also put some wider tires on it and give it a nice rake, not too dramatic, but it sits way to low to the ground..As for the interior, I would go with the 1971 Charger upholsty pattern and I would get rid of the console, how about a B&M Rachet Shifter?

Used to pass that car driving down the road on my way to work.   It was listed in the local auto trader for 14,000.  May not be the prettiest thing, but sure got your attention and sounded very nice.

There has got to be something wrong with this car, past the obvious.  I have seen it before on eBay and on some classic car sale sites in the past several years.  There must be a reason it doesn't move.  I have never liked this car, I agree it looks like a bad 70's movie pimp car.  I have a hard time looking at it, it actually sickens me that a Charger was degrated to this.  Just my

most don't remember any of the 70 do they..................... this car was practically REQUIRED to be made this way back then just to recieve an award, as a custom builder you don't build a custom car that looks like a stock one, but sometimes things get carried a little too far, i absolutely hate velour interior in anything

Well if you burn it, then there is one less out there, that maybe someday might have been yours. Plus I wouldn't burn it, I would just repaint it   

Why burn somthing when all you need, is to change the paint on it if it was yours and if you don't like it. 

If you burn it then it would be a poor car. 

But for me, I kinda like the art work on that car, but the grill would have to be replace though with a correct one.
