Just joined the forum and wanted to say hello to everybody. I've always liked muscle cars and I currently own a '69 Firebird, '06 Mustang as my daily driver, and a '68 Charger that I recently bought just a few days ago. I've always been a GM guy but I was surfing around one day and saw the Charger for sale and it was gorgeous! At that moment I just knew I had to pick it up! The car is solid and all it needs is some minor TLC and it'll be good to go. I'm hoping to get some great advice on these forums and I hope to be able to post pics up soon!

PS- if anybody here is from the NYC area and have a great mechanic they trust with their Chargers please let me know! Thanks again!

Hey man, welcome. I'm in NYC, and so is FLG. If there is anything I can do (I won't speak for him, but he's a great guy with tons of knowledge) just drop me a line, and I will help out any way possible. I do know a mechanic, and FLG has many great resources. Let me know.

Cheers man!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Ok here are some pics. I tried to post some before but it didn't work so let me try again. These pics are some of the only pics I have right now. They are actually pics sent to me by the previous owner.

TeamRoth: you can bet I will be hitting you up some time soon for some mechanical help and suggestions.

Howdy my GM Friend.  I get lonely here.  I'm a GM guy also that owns a Charger.  Write me for all your " How come Mopar did it this way? Questions ".  I'm in CT, welcome to the site.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

MoparSam

Welcome and what a great looking '68 (of course, its a '68!).  Looks like a great starting point!  What kind of factory options does it have?  So far I see a 318.  Watch throwing that three letter abbreviation (GMC) around!  Just kidding, I like 'em all as long as they've still got carbs on them, still wouldn't have one in the stable though if it wasn't a Dodge!

 Welcome American Muscle to the best site on the web, your but one of many new MOPAR converts who are new to the site and finally comming to your senses via the best muscle car of them all. Nice Charger except for the exhaust and wheels,.. and the fact it's a '68  :pity: very '80s, what are your plans for her?..

American Muscle

Yes, the tires and the exhaust are probably going to be the first to go. Any suggestion on these? The engine is a 318 as someone pointed out already. I figure the engine can always be dealt with later on (chargers are are hard to come by in general these days!). I plan on getting another engine put in some time next year.... A lot of my friends pointed me to Eddie's Valve Grinding in Sayreville, NJ. Has anybody ever heard of them? Their website seems informative but I have not been down to their shop yet.

Brock: I'm not too sure what you mean by 'very 80's'?  :shruggy:

Anyway, I'll definitely keep you guys up to date on the car. Any suggestions will definitely be welcomed and considered. Thanks again!

I was just thinkin those were the typical after market add ons from the '80s like the trans am style quad exhaust tips and the western appliance style wheels. i wouldn't doubt there are other misc. '80s style touches around the car like maybe hi-jacker shocks or a kragen cassette stereo or whatever.
I would really like to see more detailed pictures, in any case your definatly in the right place to get her back to "titts" condition,.. I'd post a pic but i'm not allowed..
