The 51773 filter. Is that off of a cummins diesel? Any drawbacks to using it , if it fits? 

I use the K&N long filter on my 440 and i have 2 inches of room in front of it.

yep thats what Napa sent me  only about 5 inches long ,,don't even extend past the K frame , a pain trying to get the oil filter wrench on it  will go back to the long ones when i do the next oil change

no drawbacks at all, great filtration and gets an extra 1 1/4 qts of oil into the system.

the filter is a match i did in the catalog.  the diesel filter is a 51607 and is a tad shorter than the 51773.  i believe the 51773 is off of a ford application, but not sure.  I based the match from the WIX catalog and found the same pitch/thread/size screw-on female end and the diameter and width of the seal.

I have ran this filter in my 72 charger w/400 and have had no issues at all.  oil pressure stays around 78-80 psi (cold) w/hi-volume oil pump on stock pan and 10w-40 oil, and 74-76 psi (hot).

My 73 318 didn't have the adapter...
Maybe just the A & E bodies???
