it's an idea I've thought about for a while and here's an example of what i was thinkin of painting on my car... check it out,..

i think that style would work pretty well on a '69 with the teeth going into the bumper,.. i could paint it with tempra poster paint since it'd wash off with water and i could get used to the idea or tweak it...
of course if someone,..   cough,.. Plum ahem,.. could do a photo shop it would be great ...

Be scared, Strat. Yet again we think alike.
I"ve got a first gen though, so don't have the aircraft styling of a '68 or '69. Rather than put shark teeth on a fender - something I too considered - I think I might incorporate a pin-up on the car somewhere. I think ultimately I'll put one on the backside of the rearend - to give folks something to take their minds off the fact that they were just owned at the stoplight.
Here is one I'm especially fond of- edited for Troy's viewing pleasure:
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
But before the General Lee there was me - Headrope.

Brock Samson

oh, so you like 'em chunky too...   ;D

i thought this one was kinda sweet..

Great minds all that stuff.

I'm leaning towards something along those lines for my "69.

From the olive drab and flat black paint sceme to some other stuff.

I'd love to try out some "tiger shark" type stuff in PhotoShop.

Here's another example:

Dude, I thought of that like 2-3 years ago with a '68 Coronet I once had.  I was going to build it into a racecar with steel-grey paint, "rivets," and nose art on both sides - "The Queen of Hearts," modeled after the girlfriend I had at the time.  With each race won, I'd put on a little mark like they did with aces in WWII.

Anyway, the Coronet got sold and it never came to fruition, but I'll probably go back in that direction someday.

Hot Wheels already tried it...

I think you would regreat it in the long run.

On a side note, the old DC Program made Chevy and Ford Doors with X's threw them for your Mopar for kills. Have a few of them on my 68 Runner.

Looks....well....has potential.
I like the idea but it needs something else, teeth are better for a 32 rod imo.

az69rtcharger

A little different prespective................

ChargerBill

I think the concept has the potential for looking pretty good, but execution is everything. I would tend to lean more toward a subdued look. Maybe more of a ghoste effect or tones of color closer to the body color so it didn't stick out SO much.

Not up set at all. I did the Pro Street look around 1985, but after say 6 moths I was wondering why the heck I did it.

As far as it is just paint, I will go with that! But I can paint car's and painted my own, can you?

Big fan of the Flying Tigers and have sat in a P-40 Tomahawk, flew in a P-38 spy plane (was a 2 seater) and a B-17 G. War Word II planes kick ass.

I allso like the nose art as well. Have many saved as well and the Tigers are some of the best. Just wonder if you will like it after it been there a while.

I'd love to paint my charger,..  ;) myself!

that's just one of my ideas the other is to paint it up in a classic Fender Stratocaster Sunburst finish... with the top done up in a Faux tortoise shell finish.. and the bodies curves exaggerated with gloss black fades like the old '60s style,.. kinda like this...

click on the link to enlarge..

Id love to do the fades on that!  ;D

Just have the art you want made up into magnetic sticker. Put it on when you feel the need to express yourself, then peel it off when you want that clean stock look. :2thumbs:

Much better now that the "tongue" follows the body line.  :yesnod:

      ok here's the thing...

Brock Samson

ok it's not perfect but you'll get the idea... 'n thanks to Recharger,..   If i remember correctly..   ???
nearly all puter illustrations of the stratocaster guitar show white pickguards, so it'll have to suffice for now...
I can invision an entire range of guitar styled chargers like a Gold Top Les Paul version or a Telecaster version in antique white and that pale yellow..
ain't Todds suppossed to be like that?..  :yesnod:

4402tuff4u

My honest opinion is that nose art does not belong on a Charger. The Charger (1st, 2nd and 3rd generation) does not need anything else to make look better. Maybe slight different wheel/rim treatments, but that's it!! Leave it alone.

Well, maybe an occasional color change in the female passenger hair like blond, redhead or brunette...any will do! :icon_smile_big:

...so noone has a response to the sunburst idea?..  :(

dkn1997

I think it looks better on a wing car.  If you're gonna do it, go all out, with fake rivets on a silver car with the nose are.  just the nose art only looks strange.

This car has that effect to a certain degree, although I don't know if it is intentional or not....

I think the only way you can pull it off is if the entire car is in the military colours - camo'd up in drab olive, tan, khaki, etc.  It looks out of place on a shiny candy apple red paint job.  But add the full military colours (I'm not sure how the roundels and the letters would look) and you'd have it.  And run the D-Day invasion stripes (black/white) for the bustle stripe.

Charger Aficionado

Here you go strat, don't ever say I didn't give you anything...

Notice I got rid of the "'ol coot's" reflection off the fender...

ChargerAndy

Just my 2 cents here but when I look at my 68 and I see the similarity to a sharks body I kinda visualize the front marker light as the sharks' eye and the mouth would fully engulf the front wheel well, as if the shark is eating up the road.   I think nose art on a Charger is a stretch but since we have some pretty good photoshop artists here....... and I wish I had Photoshop......... maybe they could give my idea a try? Thanks, Andy

PS Does anyone else see the vent window as a dorsal fin? wow, I gotta sober up   :P
