60's-70's NASCAR Rule Book

I might be REALLY going out on a limb here... but does anyone have an idea where I could find a NASCAR (Grand National) rule book from the late 60s-early 70s?  I've looked on ebay and around the net and haven't found anything.  I would like to read up on what modifications were allowed and not allowed when building up these cars.  I have a junk 69 Charger that I plan on building into a vintage stock car replica and I would like for it to be as accurate as possible... minus the hemi (I'm not loaded)

I don't see 1964, 1965, 1966, 1970, 1976, 1979, or 1982.  Please don't tell me that someone beat me to it in such a short time!  If someone here bought the 1970 copy... PLLLLLEEEEEASE make me a copy!

Do not know where you are located, but a look at one of the cars would help a lot.  If you can get to the Talldega museum, which has the Daytona Bobby Isaac drove to the 70 champoinship, it would help you a lot.  You might also check with Highbank Hauler on this board, as I got him a pretty good set of pics and plans off of the #71 when he was looking at building a clone stock car.

Hey RTDaddy.  I am located in Jackson, MS.  I went to the Talladega Museum about two years ago and took MANY pictures.  I have a decent amount of reference photos saved on my computer.  Whenever I see a good detailed picture, I usually save it.  I'll try to get in touch with him and see if he'll send me your information.  Thanks

Bobby Isaac DID NOT drive a Daytona to the 70 Championship, This is revisionist history. He never won a single race in the 70 season with the Daytona. He won 8 driving a 70 Charger and 3 times with a 69 500.

The 70 Charger won the 70 Nascar Championship.

I just received notice from the University of North Carolina that the 1970 Rule Book copies have been mailed, so I should be posting them up next week.  I hope that it's worth looking at!

Well Gang,  here it is.  I've never looked at one before so I found it pretty interesting.Lots of room for interpretation that I can see (I can't imagine what a new rule book looks like!).

It was evidently a pamphlet  because they copied 2 pages per 8x10 sheet of paper.  They sent along the Sportsman Rule book as a bonus.

This is 50 pages long (Sportsman book is another 10 pages) and would take forever to post it up with jpeg's. I copied it into the .pdf format so you'll need an Adobe Reader to view it. Unfortunately I can't post up a .pdf file here so if you PM me with an e-mail address I'll be happy to send it to you.

If we need to go another route contact me and we'll figure something out.

I just printed off some of the rule book.  It has some pretty interesting stuff in it.  Thank you Phil for taking the time to scan everything off and sending it out.  I really appreciate it.

Man, I'm surprised anyone has a specific year rulebook for NASCAR in that era.  That's a real find. 

There was so much "It's illegal because I just said so!" with NASCAR inspectors in those days.

The rulebook is still pretty vauge on soooo many things.  Now I understand why people were allowed to get away with so much.  The doesn't actually say you can not do this... or that.  Still very interesting.
