Well I ordered a new carb for my car and he sent me one way too big :'( :'( Car wont hardly run now. Is there anyway to choke back the fuel supply or do I just need to go back to the size I had?

Anyone know someone or a place that can rebuild my Holley 3310?

How big is the carb you got, and what is it?

if you ordered a pro systems carb and are having problems with it id call patrick.   one of the big benifits from ordering a pro systems carb is great after the sale service. i dont personally own one ( but id love to) but i do have a friend with one of his dominators.     id be suprised if he "miss sized" the carb.  mabe theres something wrong wqith it and he can make it right?

yea, Im sure he will make it right, just trying to see if there is anything else I can do to make it work. Paperwork says 900cfm, and the Holley 3310 is a 750 cfm carb.

what do you mean by wont hardly run?   just low on power, or is it miss firing?  backing firing?    i would thing that a properly tooned 900 cfm carb would run ok on any bigblock,  might not be the best performance, but it should run ok.

i dont think theres a good way to make a bog carb small.     you have checked for vacuum leaks? all the vacuum ports are hooked up or pluged off?  not leaking around the mounting gasket?   float levels set correctly?   fuel in the float bowls?   i just got a 3310 for my fies car that had never been mounted beofre and both floats were stuck closed. i had to pull them out and lube them up to get them not to be stuck.

plenty of power, just now takes FOREVER to warm up, at the light I thought it was going to die, pumped it twice (rev'ed) and took off down the road and it died on me. Coasted over to the side, and just smelled gas everywhere. It was flooded. died two or three more times on the way home, and when i pulled into the garage it backfired and died.

When I was on the freeway I floored it and it jumped-which was nice for a short stint.

i don't know these carbs but my old holley use to do something similar and it was that the float where out of adjustment .  :shruggy:

It sounds like the float level is set too high. With the site plug removed fuel should be at the bottom of the hole...just dribbleing out.

Backfires indicate a lean condition. You might have to change the power valve depending on what's in your carb and how much vacuum your engine is producing.

thanks guys. Going to try and tune it this week. Oreillys didnt have a vacuum gauge or timing light today so ill have to get it later this week.

Backfiring through the Carb... or out the Exhaust... two different conditions?
As with any new carburetor you need to start at the begining...  timing, choke, idle speed, "Idle Mixture", float levels, then work from there, power valve, squirtters, jets, etc if necessary.

How did you get it to fit on the intake ???? and what did you use for a fuel line ???

Sorry I just saw a picture of a Dominator...don't mind me  :P

Alright, got the 3310 rebuilt, that big 900cfm holley was just too much-re-installed the 3310 today and got an issue.

Ok, just took it down the road and bike, idling, up to 3500 rpm, no problems. When I do though go to put my foot into my (opening secondaries) it wants to bog down, like its getting too much fuel, so i backed out of it, it caughts it breathe, and i came on home under normal driving conditions.

So does it sound like i need to adjust my secondaries when I have it on the floor and it wants to die like that?

Second trip (45 miles)

I apologize for the poor quality of the video, it was taken on my blackberry as i was taking off from the light, but this is what it's doing (and almost dying on me when i let off the gas after I just had my foot in it)

Here is it almost cutting out again after I took off from the next light

Every time i put my foot into it, then let off, it wants to cut out and die. I dont know what that could be?
