What Are the Famous CHARGERS?..

Yes, it needs more face time in the movie but it does play a few significant parts in there.

If I remember right in Purple Rain there is a red '69 that you see coming toward you like you are up on a rooftop, or an apartment window. It makes a right turn and dissappears. No part of the story and only seen for  few seconds.

There is a second '68 Charger in Bullitt. It is white and you see it coming up behind the cab with it's right turn signal on just as Steve McQueen is getting out and saying a last few words to the cabbie.

There are 3 seperate 2nd Gen sightings in the French Connection. Once when Sal and Angie switch from the Ford to the white Mercury. A white '68 parked on the side of the street with a primered up drivers rear quarter panel. Doyle and Russo drive by it, turn around and go by it again during survellience. And in another scene there is a medium bronze? I think 2nd Gen parked facing towards you. None of them famous....but all 2nd Gens.

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

I did not realize how many Chargers were used over the years.
There was a Big Willie Daytona on e-bay not long ago. That is a real nostalgia piece. I think he wanted close to 200k. Lots of money for a car with rust. I tried to work a trade plus cash but it didn't work:( I love the one of a kind historic cars.

Joe Dirt was another one that I feel was a mistake on my part. Years back at the Mopar Nationals the guy wanted to sell it for $40,000. He told me that the paint on the wheels was make-up and he was sick of going out and as soon as someone touched it the paint would come off. Joe Machado built it for the studio. It's not a real one but it us cool!

think that joe dirt clone sold for $11 thousand  first time round , back in 01 ish :scratchchin: :popcrn:

WB General Lee

I remember that but only heard about it after the fact. It was like 2004 or 05 Nationals. I thought it was high then but for me it was a perfect car since I love winged cars, chargers and movie cars.

There are some chargers in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds, not the new one but the one from back in the 70's.

Actually, if I remember right, there was a daytona in the new "gone in 60 seconds"  but you only see it for a few seconds as it's getting loaded up at the ship yard.

LoneStar Mopar

In a flashback episode of the Simpsons, Homer drove a 3rd generation Charger. Also in the movie "Out Cold" the feature car was a 3rd generation Charger (only one I have ever seen with a snow plow bolted to the front).

i know it was for famous chargers, but there was a mel gibson movie where he was an air pilot for the air force.thought his wife died and was frozen in an expirement. when he was woken by some kid, the kids older brother was in the service and drove a 2nd gen rusty multi colored charger with no headliner and rough seats :2thumbs: just cant remember the name of the movie!!! :shruggy:

Are you thinking of Homer's green car that he had as a teen?

Pretty sure that was a Roadrunner.

Simpsons '3rd gen' charger looked like a Pontiac GTO given the style of grill it had, didnt have the square front look the 3rd gen has but it was more round like a GTO  :shruggy:. Either way to me the famous charger is...

Dukes of Hazzard
Vanishing Point
Blade
Fast And Furious
Dirty Larry Crazy Marry

Mike DC

That was actually a surviving TV series General Lee they redressed for that quick scene.

And nice blue charger Rooks looks like mine (just mine has a white roof also) :icon_smile_big:

A couple of GL cameos.....

An episode of the soap Dynasty....go to 2:20 in the clip, there is a race scene and one of the cars is a Orange '69 with yellow flames. (also note, I think the track looks very similar to the track in the episode with Cale Yarbourogh, Carnival of Thrills and the one with the demo derby.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guE_XehXNfY&feature=related

And on the old show T.J. Hooker, look in the background, appears to be a GL towed by one of the Cooter tow trucks from the series. (Apparently there have been several GL sightings on TJ Hooker.)
