My Brother In-law called today and his friend has a motor home that he replaced the engine with a factory 440 years back  and drove it to the camp ground 75 miles and parked it. The campground is closing so he brought it home. My brother in law wondered if I am interested and if so they would take it an the tranny. out  and trailer it back to ohio when he comes back next month. Any ideas on what I should offer and is the rear of any use as he is scrapping the rest?
Is there some more info he could get to me that may help value. I am happy with my original 383 but this sounds like it may be a good back except for the storage as I already have another 400 and 727

Thanks for you help

Personally if it were me, I would want to know more about the engine before making an offer. What year of manufacture, cast or steel crank, which heads, ect. :Twocents:

If it's cheap, nail it.  You can use the block, buy a rotating assembly, and build you a real nice engine.

Well, that is what I did! :D The motorhome blocks (some) have thicker webbing on the outside casting! I have had no problems with my motor. I just slapped some 516 heads on it. Runs pretty good with the Vudoo 60303 LK cam!!! Happy for NOW :yesnod: If you can pick it up for under $200. Do it. The rearend it HUGE. I just scraped everything but the Transmission. Now it sits in my shop, and I trip over it :icon_smile_blackeye:

Some of them rv motors come with some goodies. The one I just picked up has a forged crank and rods that look alot like the six pack style. also had windage tray etc. Most of the brackets and oil pan wont work in a charger but the bottom end is worth grabbing.
