LOL, another question in a question, what is the story behind that symbol?

I am not saying it it right either though, I would not be surprised if it wasn't right.  I have admitedly learned a lot about Chargers since I picked this car up 18 months ago, I had no idea of all the little nuances between 68-69.  I have found a few incorreect things since becoming more informed, mostly thanks to this site  The vin translates to a 383 2bbl (XP) car built at hamtramack. Other than that the car is a mystery.  I am fairly certain the 4 speed is not the original to the car.  Although I suspect is is an original 4 speed as the hump was/is all hacked out BEFORE the last owner switched it from a auto to a 4 speed, and he said it bolted right up to the trans x-member, were those different between autos and 4 speeds or were they the same?.  Meaning it got hacked to put the auto in it if I put my detective hat on, maybe? The 383 however has a slight chance of being original but I have no idea. I find it hard to believe someone would go through the trouble to add emblems like that but I guess a lot can happen in 40 years.

The story behind the little symbol is that "Cam" Cameron, the stylist who penned the 1966 Charger, had that little symbol left over from when he did the Dart prior to the Charger.  He had wanted to use it on the Dart but someone higher up than him had nixed the idea.  He liked it so when he did the Charger he found another chance to try and use it.

Judging by the photos,it doesn't look like someone just mounted them any old way.
If it were my car they would stay on.Whether it's deemed correct or not.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that since one points forward and the other points rearward.  Thats the other thing Cameron mentioned and 833wing has as well, they are supposed to point forward.

I haven't really decided on whether they are staying or not, final bodywork is years away anyway.  I will definitely try and fix the one pointing the wrong way, if I can get to it w/ out ruining the headliner, thanks for the heads up guys

Were they on from the factory though?  It seems as this is still a grey area as to what cars got them, if any in '68.

Are you certain that the emblem has mounting pins? I've always thought that these emblems were just "stuck" on the sail panels with adhesive. The extras emblems I have (don't ask  ) all have an adhesive surface for mounting.

66-67 have pins.

My 1972 does have it. when we got the car 8 years ago it was there so i think it should be.

The '68-70 "charger" script has pins.I just assume the arrows would as well.
AFAIK the adhesive emblems were mid '70s and up thing.

They were on when he bought it in 1970, so they could have been changed, but I do not think that they were.
