1966, 1967, 1968 and some 72's as far as I know.

Most I see don't have it though?  I heard it was only on early production '68. I am talking about the arrow or whatever the symbol is after the script on the sail panel, like what is on the headlight door of non-r/t's. :shruggy:

Mine has it and am curious as to why?

I have never seen an original '68 with the emblems on the sail panel. That being said I sure would like to see some photos of your '68. The previous owner of my '68 (a 383 4-speed also) added them when he restored it, but he told me he did it because he liked the look. I know the Dealership Data Book for '68 shows the emblems on the XP's and XS's, but.... Again, I have never seen them on a '68. Send photos, please!  :yesnod:

Don't know, I happened to have a 68 brochure on the desk when the question was asked because I was looking up something else earlier and thats what I get for trusting that (and I should know better by now).  The 72's I'm going by memory and I think only certain models had it, but I could be wrong.  The 66 and 67 for sure.

Only problem is I do not know the history on my car past the previous owner.  I have already found a few incorrect things for a '68 like the '69 doors, gas cap and rear view mirror, so who knows if it was actually built with them.  That is kind of why I wanted to find out what '68's came with them to see if they are correct.  Fender tag is long gone too, so I don't know if it is an original 4 speed either...  Build sequence from the VIN is 110693 and it was built at the Hamtramack Plant.

Have you checked the A833 tranny to see if your cars partial vin is stamped on it? Look at the engine also...this should tell you if the power train is original. Have you looked for a build sheet? But, no matter, you are already a winner in the Charger lottery. A '68 4-speed. Nice.

Checking on just a couple road test's I have handy. No emblem on the test cars.
They seem to be on most of the factory released photos.
I'm guessing it was very early from the factory or they were added later using the press photo's thinking they should be there.
Thought this was discussed before.

I can't find a specific thread on the sail panel emblem. But just to throw a little water on the fire I've attached a photo (seen on thread http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,40119.0.html) showing a '68 being assembled. No emblem next to the Charger script.

Dan

Edit - added an actual '68 on the assembly line. The first photo is of a '69. My apologies.... :brickwall:

Oh crap Thanks Dan.
Not exactly an early car is it?

That's o.k. You're just just a youngster on this board (at least 21 posts behind me).  ;)

It should be a '67 build, maybe October or November. Someone here should know.... :scratchchin:

No 69's or 70's and not 68 either by the look of things, except possibly some very early 68's but the 68 gurus are debating that.  Didn't know they had them on the 71's too.

Nacho-RT74

who says that ?:

I don't remember any charger at Carlisle without sail panel emblem.all resto delares offers 66-70 Charger sail panels emblems.

71/72s had them too, not in all cases but at least half of them, specially canopy roof models
