I have a 8 3/4" rearend in My 69 charger I believe I have a bent axel, I put it on a lathe and measured the runout at .023 is that enough to cause a vibration in the drive train??

Where are you measuring the runout, at the flange or the shaft? If the axle is placed between centers in a lathe the only shaft locations that won't show runout are the splines and the bearing mounting surface.

If it's at the flange, the resulting tire runout could cause a rhythmic vibration.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

We did center it up in the lathe and checked in the middle and at the splines and got as much as .023 run-out. We also chucked it up after the splines and measured it at the bearing surface with the same amount, when we put it in the car and measured the axle flange it was around .005.
