Need to be sure of rotation.Some marine engines run the opposite direction.

hhhmmm so if I were to look at the intake and check the little arrow and the firing order to make sure it was the same as mine???

I'm thinking turn the crank and see which direction the dist turns.
I recall reading the marine cranks are knurled differently at the rear oil seal.

Are you looking for a "untouched" 1968 Steel Crank 440 Engine ?

I don't know if I'd say that......  I just came across this add, actually a co-worker pointed out a different 440 in another city...........anyhow enough of that.   Guess what I'm saying is if a good deal comes around then I'd like to get it.  And yes would like a steel crank, I'm not sure mine is.  I have a 68 440, and I assumed because of the age it was steal, but was told at the time of the rebuild, ...........wow 15 years ago maybe? that it wasn't.  Always wondered if I was being lied to.

I see in the link pictures, that it's already dis-assembled, I guess to identify the parts as '68 ?

Looks like a decent enough core ?

Somebody will buy it, looks like about the right price ?

I've still got lots around, but I don't think there's much demand for "complete engines" anymore. Most people just want pieces or parts, or a Block for a stroker build.

  yeah i remember something about that also ..with the knurling  carrying the oil to the main seal instead of away if its reverse rotation
