Green Day is realising their new album, 21st century breakdown in May. I am so excited. They haven't realeased a album under the Green Day name since 04.

On a side note. Blink 182 is back together and it is rumored that the two bands will tour together.   How F-ing cool is that?

Thanks for letting me share.   :2thumbs:

I know some people hate Green Day, but I have loved them since I was 11 yo in 1994 when Dookie came out. Their new stuff is very political, but good music none the less. They were the first band that I loved without my parents approval. But I didn't care. I hid the CD so that they wouldn't find it. My Parents did not approve of "hard" music. I couldn't get enough.

LONG LIVE THE BAND, GREEN DAY!!!!

I was just showing my daughters, age 11 and 12, some Green Day videos from thir earlier albums. I am not that big of a GD fan, but I thought they might like some of it. They seemed to like them, but I am sure it won't have the same effect on them since "Dad" showed them. Sometimes kids like music not because it's good, but because mom and dad hate it. That's how I explain the popularity of rap. :icon_smile_big:

I like their "boulevard of broken dreams" song. They had it for "Johny zero" series but it got canceled after a few episodes.

Myself and a friend decided that we are going to take work and school off and go to any show they play in the following cities.
Seattle, WA
Boise, ID
Mozulla, MT
Denver, CO
Salt Lake City, UT
Phoenix, AZ
or any other surrounding states. I will sell my Duster if I have to. Dusters come and go, but the chance to follow Green Day and Blink to 5 or more venues will probably not ever come again. I have a place to stay free of charge in every city listed except Montana. I seen Green Day back in 01 when they were a bit smaller. It was at a venue of about 2000-2500 people. I was right at the front most of the night, I have the story typed up if you want to read it. I think its a good read. It was my first concert and the Living End opened. Way good band from Melbourne Australia. But I want to see Green Day again and if I get the chance to follow them and if Blink is with them. I will do what ever I have to. I would even sell my body.   :smilielol:

Thought I would share one of my favorite live performances that is on Youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgumG6Oeg1w

Here is my story, I wrote it a short wile ago.

My Green Day Experience
Saturday, July 28 2001. Newton, UT. 2:00 PM. Myself and a few friends, Jake, Jason, Dustin, My brother Rick and his girl leave to go see the greatest band ever, Green Day. We are in a late 80's Dodge caravan. It is a piece of junk. I had never been to a concert before. I had no Idea what to expect. The night before, we all watched Almost Famous to get pumped up. It was the only idea I had of a concert. My family has never been much into music, so I unfortunately never got to go see a concert. When I found out Green Day was coming. I decided to go no matter the costs.
So we leave Newton. I am driving. Of course, to get even more pumped, we are rocking out to Nimrod, My favorite album. So here are the six of us young kids rolling down the freeway hauling ass as we want to be there early so that we can be some of the first in. The show doesn't start till 7:00. The Salt Air amp theater in Magna, UT is only about two and a half hours away from Newton. To say that we were excited would be an understatement.  To me, Billie Joe, Mike and Tre were Gods. I practically worshiped them. About an hour into the drive, the van stalled. It just shut off. No reason. I panicked. I was freaking out. I couldn't believe it. My stomach started hurting. I was all but ready to cry. After messing around with the van for a few minutes, we got it to start. We all pile in and take off back down the freeway.
It's about 4:00 PM now. Cruising down the freeway again, we are all still pumped up. We exit I-15 to I-80 and start heading west to Magna. We are getting even more excited. We are getting close. We are passing Salt Lake International. Only about fifteen miles left. It's un-bearable. I can't stand it. Only a few long hours before I get to see my idols. My heart is pumping. I am sweating. I am so anxious to see them.
On the freeway, we go to pass a big bus. I think, "This could be them." But, the bus has Oregon plates on it and everyone knows Green Day is from Berkeley, California. So we pass the first bus and I look into the driver seat and it is just some older dude driving. No big deal. We pass the second bus and I don't really even look. Jake is sitting in the back. I hear him yell, "HOLY SHIT!!! THERE'S BILLIE JOE!!!" I look over in anticipation and excitement, sitting on the steps in the front of the bus is Billie Joe and Adrienne Armstrong. My heart nearly exploded. I couldn't believe this. I was literally less than ten feet from my idol. We slow down and start waiving. Billie and his wife get smiles on their faces. Billie waves back at us. I couldn't believe it. My "God" just waived at me. He saw ME! I never could have imagined. We drove right next to them for a few minutes and then spead ahead to the venue.
Once at the Salt Air, we got a parking spot and ran to the line. On our way over, I slipped and fell in the mud. Everyone laughed at me. I could have cared less. I got up and continued to the line. There were only about one hundred or so people in front of us. It was awesome. I can't begin to explain how I felt. I was ex-static.  It was the greatest high I have ever had even still.
The line was continuing to grow. There was a kid and his girl friend right behind us in line. Jake and I became friends with them. We were having a good old time. They were the same age as us. 18. We all sit there talking and joking and getting to know one another. Me and Jake were telling them about an old burlesque house in Cache Jct. I was joking saying that I want to buy it and start it back up. Jake and I would run it and call it J and J Burlesque. We were having a good old time joking about stupid things like that.
Here we are BS'ing and all of a sudden Green Day does a sound check. Everyone in the line goes silent. You hear them checking their instruments, Then they break into Basket Case. The energy is amazing. Everyone in the line is silent. They play the whole song. You can feel it. Everyone is pumped. They finish the song and everyone freaks out. They start clapping and yelling and jumping. It was electrifying.
After about an hour and a half in the line, they start letting people into the building. We walk up to the door, they pat us down. My heart is pounding. You can feel it already. I am overwhelmed at the excitement. I am anxious. I can't wait. People are pilling in. It's insane.
We are all towards the front. There are only a few people in front of us. We are maybe fifteen feet from the stage. They dim the lights. Three guys come out on stage and play a song called Roll On. After the song, they introduce themselves. They are The Living End from Melbourne Australia. They play a good set. They are awesome. The bassist uses a stand up bass and is crazy. He balances on it and it is phenomenal. Chris the lead singer and guitarist play's while drinking a beer. He is holding the beer in his left hand as he plays. It was amazing. They play about eight to ten songs and go off stage.
We stand there for about twenty or so minuets. The smell of the place is incredible, it's terrible. The smell coming off of the great salt lake. The smell of all of those people in a un-air conditioned building in the middle of summer. It was hummed, muggy and gross. Everyone was soaking wet from everyone else's sweat.
The lights go dim again. Everyone goes crazy. The energy is un-real. The guys come out on stage. They start playing. It was so amazing I can't even remember the song. I was practically blacked out and in shock. I was standing fifteen feet from Billie Joe Armstrong. It was AWESOME!! After the first song, Billie starts to introduce some people. First Mike Dirnt, then Tre Cool. Then he points up on the balcony, he then says, "See that lady right there? that's my wife Adrienne. See that beautiful lady next to her? That's my Mom, Her and my Dad fucked, and here I am!" Everyone went crazy. It was awesome. Then they started playing music.
Billie was asking people what songs they wanted to hear. It was awesome because they weren't promoting an album, they were just on tour. They played some of everything, from Kerplunk to Nimrod. It was great. At one point, Billie went to the drums and Tre came to the microphone. He sang, all by myself and Dominated Love slave. It was awesome. They switched back and continued to play. Then they asked for people to come up. They had someone that could play the drums, Guitar and Bass come up. The all played a song and Billie sang. It was awesome. Then Billie kissed the kid on the lips. It was hilarious. The three had to stage dive off of the stage. It was cool.
Towards the end. I worked my way up to the barrier. I got close enough that if Billie would have reached out and I would have. We could have touched hands. It was the most amazing thing in my life. Words can't compare. They closed with two encores.
After Green Day left the stage. I was still pumped. I had just seen the most amazing thing ever. I knew I would never forget it and I could never forget it. Unfortunately, I have forgot little things about the show, but I will never forget the energy, the amazement, the feeling, but most of all, the show. I have loved Green Day since I was 11 years old. The first CD I ever owned is Dookie and I still have it. Green Day is my favorite band and always will be. I can't wait for the next tour. Regrettably, I have missed the last few and I will NOT miss the next few! Thanks for Thirteen Great years of music in my life. I love those guys. They are heroes. They have helped me many times. I am twenty five now and it is November, 2008. I still go back to that day when I need a mental boost. I still remember the feelings. It was phenomenal. It was the greatest day of my life.

Hey C stripes

Just wanted to let ya know I liked your story. I was there that night by the salt lake...... :D I was Green Day's lead driver from 1997 thru 02'. The last tour I did with them was the Green Day/Blink 182 tour. Your right about those guys bro, they're a good bunch of guys. Mike actually drove my truck around the parking lot over at Fiddler's Green amphitheatre in Denver! Next time I get by my house I'll check my stash of tshirts and stuff and see if I can find ya something.

I have to admit I do like some of their song but I'll forever download and never support by buying. Billy Joel thinks to highly of himself imo. He openly bashed Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and said he lacked the ability to sing. Personally I'd like Armstrong to listen to some of his songs and his lack of signing ability.

Sweet.  That would be a cool job. I had tickets to go to Pop Disaster tour but could not make it.  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall: That is my dream to meet the guys, I admire them greatly and would just like to shake their hands and say thanks. An autograph or two would be cool, but un necessary. I hope that one day I can. That would be cool if you have some memorabilia. I used to have one of their very rare (one of 250 ever made) first record. They were sold by the band at their shows. I KICK myself hard core for ever getting rid of it. Thanks for the complement on my story. I wish I could go back and live it again. Back when the band was still a smaller band.

I agree, Billy Joel does think highly of him self. But what does he have to do with Green Day?   lol.  It's a comman mistake made by none Green Day fans. Billie Joe however, I am sure he does think highly of him self. He should. Look how far he has come. one of the biggest bands in history.

Lots of musicians openly bash other musicians. Nothing new there. I am sure Chad has bashed others. I seen Nickelback live a few years ago and they did a good job, nowhere close to Green day. But much better than Chevelle and Hinder. But I am glad that that is why you dislike him. Most people bash him because they think he is anti American. Which is absolutely untrue. Just because someone doesn't support the war, doesn't make them anti America. Billie Joe has done some awesome things for people. After Katrina, he and his family donated personal time and money to help build a few houses down in New Orleans. I don't recall many other musicians doing that. Green Day have also played at schools and hospitals and done many benefit concerts. In my opinion, they are good people.

I miss that car greatly. I will never forget when me and a friend drove it back from Idaho Falls dressed as the blues brothers.  haha.  LMAO!!!  GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES!!!!! Other peoples reactions where awesome.
You can't tell in the pic, but the HEMI Orange over the wheel says GREEN DAY. The car was green in and out until I painted the black on it. The car was rust free and had a 440 TNT in it. I sold it to a guy to restore and they derbied it. I would like to kill them.  That was a 65K orig mile old man car that I traded a big block ramcharger for.

Just thought I would share pics of the LP I once had.  I seriously kick myself for getting rid of it. I needed money and sold it for more than I would have immagened. I could sell it for more now. But if I still had it. It would never be sold.

This is from http://www.greendaydiscography.com/.

"The very first recording from Green Day, when they recorded it they were called Sweet Children, they changed their name to Green Day shortly before they released it. Early pressings have the Lookout records Laytonville adress on the back (which was displayed on the sleeve in different ways, see pictures). Also, only the first pressings have an insert, the second pressing has 'bilt in leerics' (see picture below). This EP was also pressed on alot of different colors, and therefore it's very interesting for collectors. There are 600 pressed on green vinyl, 200 on purple, another 200 on red vinyl, and about 100 on clear and yellow vinyl. It's also on blue vinyl but I don't know how many were pressed. The pink sleeve one is an early pressing (Laytoneville adress), xeroxed, and Larry Livermore ran out of green paper, there's only a few of them."

Who gives a shit what everyone else likes... some guys like to go stock, some like to go fast, and some like to just be able to drive it! No point in posting why you dont like GD unless there is a point! I like I said, IMHO there last few albums sucked big, but I also think Elton John has some good shit so dont hate on tony danza!

Yeah, but at least Kurt Cobain earned enough cred blowing his own head off when he couldn't do it anymore. Green Day started wearing mascara.

Yeah, but at least Kurt Cobain earned enough cred blowing his own head off when he couldn't do it anymore. Green Day started wearing mascara.
lol yeah thats a good claim to fame. How about leaving music or something like that. IMO I couldn't really care that he offed himself in the middle of his fame.

Yes, Sir Elton John is very talented. I will not deny that. Look, I am glad you don't like Green Day,  who cares. I was just stating that I am excited that they are going on tour. Say what you will, but if they were not talented, there is no way they would be where they are. Yes, a few of their albums have not been the best. Name one band that has more than a few albums that doesn't have one or two that are not the best. American Idiot isn't for everyone. But it is a great album. It was put together very well and the music is good. I love the album. It's not Nimrod or Dookie. They weren't trying to make it that way either. As for the eye shadow, have you seen Nikki Sixx lately? How about Jacoby Shaddix(Papa Roach)? Lots of rock musicians are now wearing makeup. Who cares?

I am not a huge Nirvana fan. I have listend to it in the past. But Green Day and Nirvana sound NOTHING alike. The Seattle Grunge scene and Bay area punk have total different sounds. The Ramones. Ya. They were an influence on Green Day. So some of their music has a little of the Ramones feel to it. So what. Lots of bands have similar sounds to the bands they admire. Big deal.  So why bash them?

If you don't like Green Day. Congrats. I am happy for you.

If you do.  They are realeasing tour dates soon, and I can't wait.

The difference is that Motley Crue and Nikki Sixx, in this instance, have forgotten more about rock-n-roll than Green Day will ever know. Plus, you're comparing apples to oranges. Green Day are a bunch of mealy-mouthed pu$$ies that would get their asses kicked were they to run into the Crue on the street.

BTW, what kind of names are Billie Joe and Tre Cool?   :girlfight: How manly....if you're a 13-year-old girl.

And, Paul, Gene, Ace, and Peter were wearing face paint 35 years ago...Motley, 25 years ago. Green Day sucks.

You see, listening to Love Gun, Destroyer, Hotter Than Hell, Shout At The Devil, or Too Fast For Love will make you want to go out, find little punks like Green Day, and hurt them...listening to Green Day makes you want to go out, buy some crank, go home, and blow your brains out.

lol.  DAMN!!! Thats cool that you think that. I have seen crue live also. They are cool. But they are ass holes. I would much rather see Green Day.
Billie Joe is his real name and has been since birth. Tre Cool is just a name he got when he was young, I don't know the history. I am guessing that you grew up listening to the bands you listed above. There is no problem with you liking them. Green Day is who I grew up listening to. There is no sense bashing them. You don't know them, I don't know them. Low Profile has worked with him and also says they are great guys. I have seen them on stage and seen videos of them and they seem like nice guys. Look at that video of Nikki Sixx just recently being a stuck up ass hole. I know Green Day would never do that. For those who don't know what I am talking about, sixx threw a bottle of water in the crowd and a girl threw it back and and he acted like a little bitch. Green Day gets mud thrown at them and they laugh about it. No sense dissing guys. Even though you are dissing, I bet you would not turn down the chance to hang with them. right? if they came up to you and said, "hey, come chill with us and watch the show from the side of the stage". You or ponch would not turn it down. Hell. If Crue said that to me, I would take it. Not a big fan at all. But it would still be cool. I would defenetly gain some respect for them. The three of you that have been bashing on them. Have any of you ever seen them live? They have been rated in the top ten best live rock bands to see. That's pretty cool if you ask me. Anyway. It's cool if you don't like them, but there is no sense talking down on the guys.

lol I like how you assume things. I've never met green day and I'd doubt that they would be willing to allow you to hang with them from billie stuck up nature I wouldn't be surprised if he told you to go away. From his interviews he thinks really highly of himself and from the success I've seen from him He thinks higher of himself then he should. Metallica rules!

C_stripes

You think Metallica are not stuck up?  LMAO!!   I didn't say that Green Day would, I simply stated that IF they DID come up to you and say that. I would guess you would take the chance. I could really care less that you don't like them. I don't like Panic at the Disco. Who cares?

Nikki Sixx IS an a-hole. No doubt. I saw Motley Crue on Thanksgiving Break in California when I was 16 (Perkins Palace? In Pasadena), the Shout at the Devil tour in Cleveland (opened for Ozzy), and the Theater of Pain tour (talk about makeup!)...I was 3rd row for SATD and front row for TOP (thank you, WMMS!).

I saw Green Day in 1995. I liked the show. A lot. I thought they were good. But, I just would rather be around Metalheads, I guess. I got dragged to an R.E.M. show at the Rosemont Horizon (outside Chicago) in 1995 ('96?) and it was AWFUL. It was a free ticket from a friend, but if THEY woulda asked if I wanted to hang with them, I'd've told them to f@#k off.

Green Day guys, don't get all bent. They're okay...they're just not as awesome as you all are making them out to be. Who can really say who's great and who's not? Right? Like I said before, I have Dookie and Insomniac on my iPod, so I can't hate them that much. They just wouldn't be one of my Desert Island Discographies.

All i did was say that they were going on tour and that they were my fave band. I posted my story and people stared bashing. So then I stood up for the group that I love, I never tried to force them on anyone. I think they are cool. As far as what you said. They are also not as bad as you guys are making them out to be!  :slap: So now, lets all sit down and listen to what we each like and let the bashing rest.

...nowwwww, which Elvis are we talking about? The pre-Army, still-young, thin, and decent-looking Elvis, or the fat, bloated, fried-banana-sandwich-with-peanut-butter-eating, jar-of-downers-popping, pain-med-injecting, booze-swilling, Las Vegas, "My Way" Elvis?

I have read, and apparently backed up in the link below, that his big, fat heart gave out as he strained to put a couple through the hoop, or as my friend likes to say, "drop a couple friends off at the pool"...I'd like to see Green Day, or any of these newer bands, for that matter, try to live HALF the life Elvis or Keith Richards have led...you used to have to be tough to be a rock star...Meth and Ecstasy don't really count.

Just Say NO!!!

I plan on attending Aug 15 and 16. 16th for sure. Denver will all depend on where the venue is in Salt Lake. At one venue, I get VIP tickets. So if they come to that venue. I have a chance to meet the band. Therefor, I would just stay here in Utah so that I can be there before gates even open to the public.
