The show is about matching very diffrent family's with resulting hi-jinx. The 30 Jan episode had a pompus, elitist, idiot named Stephen fowler who insulted about every facet of the American culture. While watching the clip is down right infuriating, the good news is his life and probably his wife's is ruined

Love the show.   I saw that episode that night and went down stairs to tell my wife what a jerk that guy was.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Unbelievable!!!!! I hadn't seen that before. What an absolute ass!   I'm surprised Gayla's husband didn't flatten the worm.  It would have been worth jail time.  :RantExplode:  People like that bring out the worst in me.

You know as a person who did join the Army and came from the midwest, I would show him that not everybody would take his sh!t, and I would have put him on his a$$.  People like that is what brings this country down.  We don't need some foreigner telling us that he wants to change our country.

I agree her husband should have beat that jack ass . And he called her rude
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

General_01

He is just another insecure bully who needs to tear you down so he can feel taller in the world. You can tell that his whole problem with Gayle was that she did not know what a "womens place" was. She was making decisions for the kids that he did not like. He may be married, but he would be just as happy with a nanny/maid to take care of the kids and the house. That is the only reason he is married.

And he is so educated that he insults her numerous times in front of the children and when she finally erupts, he tells his kids that she is being rude. I also find it funny that he is so above everyone else, but signs up to be on a reality show.

Just an idiot. Beating him into the ground would have done nothing. He would have just sued you and then said how that totally justifies what he said.

The really sad part about all this is that his son is going to grow up thinking that it is all right to treat people like that and his daughter is going to marry a control freak just like him.

thats true but it would have been oh so worth it to smash his face on prime time tv.

General_01

Emotionally, yes. Financially, no.

I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of handing him his proof.

Now, if he were to get mugged 6 months later in some back alley with no camera's around. :shruggy: :D

Yeah, kinda.  This guy is the kind that tries and hide behind the law.  He thinks that he can run his mouth with out consequences, but some of us Midwesterners have some brains too.

IC 35-42-2-3
Provocation
Sec. 3. A person who recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally
engages in conduct that is likely to provoke a reasonable man to
commit battery commits provocation, a Class C infraction.

That is for the State of Indiana.  This would negate his suing aspect, and help with the sentencing with the Battery that I would commit on him.  The tapes from the show would be all the proof you would need to show a reasonable man, who's wife and Country was being verbally attacked would react with a slug to the mouth.  I think it would totally be worth it. It would be hard for a jury of my peers to convict after watching that.

Ok, I said my piece, and now I will step down from the soapbox.

General_01

Yea, but I'm an all or nothing kind of guy. If I am going to beat on someone, they aren't going to get up. They are gonna be carried out. That would probably be considered excessive retalliation, so I am thinking the 6 months later and putting that a@#wipe in the hospital would be my way. To each there own though.

True, I cant deny that your way is just as savory, I just don't think I could wait the 6 months.  Either way, he would learn something, and that's what's its all about.  Teaching lessons where ever I go.

Well, you could try abc.com or maybe hulu.com (I think Hulu may be owned ny NBC, but, I'd still check). Yeah, that guy was a real dick. I couldn't believe that the other husband didn't clock him...I know I would have..."Oh, I'm a Midwestern hillbilly? White trash, you say? Have a taste of THIS!!", as my fist enters his throat to speedbag his uvula...f#@king liberal, tree-hugging, Prius-driving California freak...(by way of the UK, natch)

What about freedom of speech?

Isn't that what America is all about?   :shruggy:

He has every right to say what he wants, he just needs to know that there are consequences to his words.  One being that a husband will probably defend his wife by knocking the jerks block off.

AKcharger

Well said Knight...one problem today is some people (not necessarily you shakey) interpret freedom of speech to mean people HAVE to listen to them and people HAVE to agree with them or at least "see their side." I'm 100% in agreement that people can say what ever they want, but there also can be consequence when it's unpopular or just plan stupid.

jb666

My wife's been watching a "WifeSwap a'thon" for most of the afternoon. I'm convinced that the producers TELL the husbands to be the biggest A-HOLES they can possibly be. Would it be good TV if they weren't? I can't believe some of the crap I'm seeing here...

WingCharger

Just for irony, I would run the a-hole over with a Diesel Dodge Ram, and then dump him in the middle of Kentucky, and see how long he lasts with that attitude in freakin Mossy Oak. (Yes, that is a real town.) :D :D :D :D :D

If you hate America so much, why is he here? :shruggy: :shruggy:
She hates it too, so leave! :rotz:

You got it spot on right there. The producers of this show like to cast for conflict. Personally I dont have a problem with this guy, as what we see on the show is only a small part of what went on, and was heavily biased to cause a reaction with the target audiance.

For example, if Someone were to go through this thread and selectively remove parts of it and show it to someone who didnt know it had been altered, they would come away from here with the impression that members here are extremely violent. But thats not true.

Thats the entire point of the show. You watch it, you get angry, you tell your friends, they watch it too. And the producers make money.

Im not saying I agree with what this guy was saying, but any reasonable person can figure that the show is heavily weighted towards one point of view.
