I hate to be a dream breaker but I'd sooner that than have you get disillusioned on the car and end up bailing on the hobby.  With the "wisdom" of hindsight this is what I'd do in your case.  Fix the car up, make it nice and make it reliable.  Resist the urge to do anything goofy and trendy.  Making the car reliable will save you money, teach you a lot about keeping these old buggers on the road and above all get you into something that is fun.  They were made to drive.  Then, hot rod it as time and money allow.  If your heart is set on four speeding it then go for it, just temper it with a little patience, that is, get it driveable now and keep your ears open for deals on four speed parts as you go. AFTER you have everthing together, then install the stuff.  The high school budget part makes it tough and I'm sure that most of us on here have a car in our high school past that we boogered up through enthusiasm and no money to complete our dream project.  I know I do and I wish I'd have put the thing on the road first and saved a lot of headache later on.
You've chosen a Charger for a project so you have already made a right decision on the first step.  :2thumbs:

Tell your family its a learning experience to help you appreciate the meaning of a hard earned dollar and responsibility and all that crap.  If they don't buy that then tell them it's better than wasting your life on drugs and hookers.

I agree with Ghoste. 100%   I see these youngins around me wasting all kinds of time doing NOTHING with their lives. Not learning anything other than how to get into trouble. Working on and learning about cars is not only fun, but it can be the learning experience of a lifetime. Especially if you take the time to do proper homework before and during your reconstruction.

This site is fantastic with it's many members and combined thousands of years of knowledge.

Also, I know that there are some websites for Cordoba's that you can find many parts on as well...

Keep us posted...

Don't abandon us all here but this link will take you to a 75-79 B-body forum where you may be able to score some parts.

Thanks Nacho...

Lizey...I had a '75 Charger SE back in '84 and that car was pretty awesome.  Forgive the picture, it's a scan.  There's something about those back seats, a girl, and the opera lighting...  I had 15x10 and 15x8 inch Keystones and that really set it off.  As most everyone said, there are alot of interchangable parts.  Trust me when I say that it's a car ('76 Charger or '79 Magnum) that not many people are out there running around in.  With that said you will most likely be the only one in your area.  That's pretty neat!

I bought my first car when I was 15 and the rest, as they say, is history.  You won't be sorry.

I always liked these Cordoba's and Charger's myself. I LOVE the Magnum's too. I like the Charger below a lot too.
