I just don't understand why some guys think that its a big deal? ??? Didn't tie the wife because she was never opened up so it was a more invasive and risky procedure. Besides, I could care less. I don't need any more.

I had it done maybe 3 months after the twins were born. That was about 6.5 yrs ago. I have 3 and that's enough!

Sent me home after with the meds and strict instructions to not do any heavy work for 2 weeks so that I wouldn't swell up. I got home made a pitcher of margaritas (rather then the pills) and sat in the basement and played pinball and drank.  :yesnod: After 2 weeks I was all bummed that the honey doo list returned.

You can always get it reversed later.

Everything others have said is true about the procedure...EXCEPT my particular problem has not been covered.

I am scared of pain and did not want to get the procedure done.  So I delayed and delayed.  For years.  And five kids.  Finally, the wife said she was "cutting me off" until I got the procedure done.  At first, I feared she was talking chef knife cut off.  But no, she just repeated "I was cut off."  Then I learned, not from pizza or beer or TV but her.  YIKES, her pants had a big red stop sign on them.

So eventually I caved, but I was still very freaked.  I explained in detail my many complex fears to the doctor who agreed to give me good drugs during and afterwards on that fateful Friday afternoon.  Unfortunately, the drugs were so good I soon forgot about having had surgery after I got home.  I then decided to shot some hoops with the kids in the backyard instead of sitting on the couch quietly as instructed.  BAD DECISION.  Needless to say, I was in pure agony for the rest of the weekend and walked funny for two weeks thereafter.   My vascetomy, which I'd hope to keep private, became the source of many hilarous (to others) jokes at work.

So, although this is implicit for most normal folks, I offer this simple counsel:  AVOID shooting hoops immediately after the procedure.  Jumping is BAD; sitting on a bag of frozen peas is GOOD.   You can thank me later.

Peace,

Neal

I heard you have to go in once a month for like a year afterwards to give a sample so they can make sure it worked.
Is that true?

mikepmcs

I can tell you this, they would not let single guys get it done in the military.  Ask me how I know that, but..... it's a good way to tell for sure if your GF is cheating on you..  Quicker than a DNA test if you never tell the other it's done and one day she comes home with a surprise "I went to the doctor today and found out I'm pre....".  That's when you spring it on her as you are helping her pack and telling her to lose your number and forget she ever met you.

Yes, I know what you all are thinking...... deceiptful, maybe................cause cheating isn't.. ::)

That is why when you are first going out you let it be known if you want children or not IMO.  No sense moving forward if you aren't on that page right off the get go.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

You will need to have two negative samples tested to insure that you are "flushed out" and that there are no active sperm. Then they will recommend to have a sample tested in a few months just to make sure it is still clear.

It's apiece of cake and if pregnencies  and 4 children are really difficult you should be jumping at the chance to prevent one!  Just take it easy for a couple of days like the doctor says or you'll be sorry!

Do it.  It is not bad at all. The best part was when the doctor told me I could do nothing for three days except sit on the couch.  Good thing my wife was in there during the procedure so I could have him repeat the instruction clearly and slowly for her.  That was a wonderful three days. Wish I could get one once a month.

I'm still laughing at this!

Tell you what, I'd rather go have that done 10 times again, than ever back to the dentist.  Other than the numbing part, there was nothing to it.  Or maybe that is the Valium talking.  Man gave me three of them and I took em all on the way in.  They could have cut my foot off, I wouldn't have cared.

Well, wish me luck guys, the puck is getting taken out of play tomorrow at 3:00pm.  I'll let everyone know how it goes.   :2thumbs:
