Well, I stopped by a local custom shop a few weeks ago to check out what they had and see what they were all about.  Talked to one of the owners and asked if he needed any shop help.  I get the call today and go in for an interview.  I start work on Friday, and I work on Monday Wednesday and Fridays.  They're going to have me updating their site, putting listings on eBay and craigslist and also do some general shop stuff.  I'm extremely excited about this, and the pay isn't bad either for how slow the economy is and for being a poor college kid. This opens up a whole new world of opportunity for me, and I couldn't be happier.  Just thought I'd share because it's a cool place and they're doing a lot of cool stuff

Here's their website:

Congrats!   :2thumbs:  Work hard and make yourself an asset to the company. you can learn a lot of valuable experience from a reputable shop that will be golden when you restore your car!

NICE! :2thumbs:
Just started a new job myself. Feels pretty darn good doesn't it.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Sweet. :2thumbs:

It's not so much what you will be getting paid, but the fact that you're getting your foot in the door and the experience (even if it's nominal) that youll be getting. Gotta start somewhere!

Yeah, I was actually going to bring up their pricing on that '71.  They had it on eBay a while ago and it got up to something like $38k.  Their BIN price was $46k I think.  The car is actually really nice by my standards and it's cool to see an unrestored car that looks that nice.  The 8 bucks an hour is just money I wouldn't have doing this kind of stuff anyways, so I'm not complaining.  Maybe if I stay there a while, I can get some work done on things I don't know how to do on the Charger.  I agree that this is a great opportunity for me and is a great segue into the business I want to do after college.

wow, That's an incredible shop.

For all you guys that are having trouble finding work, my company is always hiring. Its gauranteed pay, never get laid off, full benefits, travel to exotic countries, mee interesting people and then kill them. That's right you too can join the Army.

See exotic places like "roadside bomb" and "crappy mudhut village" and lets not forget "porta-potty city".  :2thumbs:

Seriously all joking aside, its a great job with more stability than you can imagine. ;D

At the shop, there's a '70 Hemi Cuda getting restored along with it's original motor with 21k miles.  There's also a '73 Roadrunner and the Speed Sport Barracuda funny car getting painted there.  A lot of cool cars have passed through there and I'm hoping more will while I work there.
