69 Charger buildsheet question

     Hey guys,

I have a question for you on my 69 Charger buildsheets. On the bottom of both of my buildsheets it says
     " 01 Special Handling Car "

      What does this mean?

      Mark

Ghoste

It means they wanted special care taken in the building of the car but beyond that it gets a little generic.  It could mean something as important as it was going to the press fleet or being used at a new car introduction to something as mundane as the car had been ordered by a supervisors brother.
What else is one the sheet that could give clues as to who ordered it, when, and why?

moparmark

I do know that my car was a dealer demonstrator car (as it is coded as being this on the buildsheet) and also it is documented a being a demo on the original bill of sale.

Ghoste

Dealer demonstrators were often coded special handling so that is most likely it.  I wouldn't mind pics either, is the car loaded with options or fairly plain?

moparmark

It's fairly loaded up with options: RT/SE factory power sunroof car.

      Hey,

You guys have seen pics before. Chris has posted some previously. When I get a chance I post some new ones.Right now I'm overhauling the engine, transmission and repainting the engine bay.

       Mark

Ghoste

Yes, I do remember them now, that is a very special car you have there.  :2thumbs:

maxwellwedge

My guess - in this case the "Special Handling" was for the SunRoof - Chrysler farmed the sunroofs out to American Sun Roof (I do believe that was their name).

Usually I see the Special Handling on some Hemi cars as well as the other reasons Ghoste mentioned

maxwellwedge

Check the drain hoses - they exited out some crudely punched holes towards the bottom of the car.

Yes I do. I live about a half hour west of Edmonton but work in the city. The RT/SE sunroof car should be back together and completed in a couple of months.

Awesome. If you ever get the chance, you should bring it out here for a show or two. If I'm ever in Edmonton, I'll stop by and check it out. :2thumbs:

Mark did you put the V21 back on?   Glad to hear you kept it.

Most of the demo cars (Y13 on the sheet) have the Special Handling on the sheet

        Hey,

If I'm ever in the Vancouver area I'll be sure to take it to a few shows there. But right now it's still in a lot of pieces.
As far as the V21 hood performance,I'm going to be putting it back on after everything else is completed.Does any one have a good template to use when re-doing this? I've seen chargers that have the V21 option where the black goes straight back from the wastegates to the back edge of the cowling andother cars where the black curves off to the edge of the cowling.Which style is considered "correct"? I want to have it redone the "factory correct" way.
NOT Just 6T9 CHGR- congrats on the new charger.I'm glad as well that I kept my sunroof car.

Mark scroll down for the factory bulletin on the V21.  There are a few pics in the gallery as well of an unrestored V2 car with the V21 as well

          Hey,

Yeah, Crosstown is always a really good show to go to. My wife's car (the F6 green Charger) won Judges's Favorite in 2007 and Best of Show in 2008.The pics are from the 2008 show. This was the last show before my orange sunroof car spun a bearing in it.

I believe the factory switches were made by Bosch, and if someone here has a sunroof car and is in need of a switch I have a few laying around. Had a back up one for each sunroof car, and plus had a few that were older and already been pulled out of other cars. I don't have a clue if the older one's work, but they might if cleaned up. Before anyone asks about buying them though I'd have to find them, and the garage is a bit of a mess here in the winter time.
