So, long overdue, i took my spouse out for dinner and a movie tonight and we had a blast!  We had baby #3 back in July and we havent been out like this since long before then.   I dropped $100 for the night, babysitter, movie, dinner, but my SAHM was having a very good time the whole night so it was well worth it.

I'm not a big post starter but i just wanted to share my experience with those that havent taken their significant others out to a nice restaurant in awhile.   I need to do this more often, just a reminder to myself..

PS: By the way, she told me i could build a detached garage for my Charger this year as long as the neighbor doesnt mind....  One stop to the liquor store for my neighbor and i'm golden!

PSS:  Oh and i'm watching spaceballs right now...      "the radar sir.... it appears to be jammed!"

What movie did ya see?

Julie and I go to a movie about once every month or so. We go to dinner also depending on what time the movie is. We are lucky though. The wifes parents are close so we get more breaks than you two do. We are gonna get a big break the first week of March. My wifes parents are taking the girls to Disney down in Florida during their Spring break. My wife and I get a whole week alone. :icon_smile_big:

Better make sure there are no more siblings...  haha

Here is more detail.  So two days ago i call our babysitter (age 16) across the street and i ask if she can watch the kids tonight.  She says yes.  I talk to Katy (my spouse) and figure out the time we will leave and come home.  I call the babysitter back and her younger brother answers the phone, I tell him to tell Grace to come over tonight at 7:30pm.

Grace shows up at 6:00pm.  We decided ok, (she's early) but we'll head out to dinner early and/or catch a movie early.  We go see Madagascar II at the cheap theater for $2.50 each.  It ... was.... hillarious!   Then we went to a nice restaurant and came home.

My wife and kids loved that movie. I didn't go with them. I will see it on DVD some time I am sure. Glad you finally got some together time. Now you two are all rejuvenated to get back in the trenches. :2thumbs:

I remember those days. Now, (stupid me) asked my wife to work with me, so after spending all day with me she is too sick of me to have any quality time.   :icon_smile_blackeye: Mike

BTW Paul how's your weather up there in MN? I'm originally from W.St.Paul. Got sick of shoveling and moved to FL.

Very nice, Paul. Buy the premium stuff for your neighbor...can't be too careful.

Went with the family tonite to see Smuckers "Stars on Ice". The tickets were free, so don't get on me too much.  :P  Good time with the wife and daughter, who was enchanted with the skaters. Anyhowse, I went to see the Sharks/Coyotes game last night so I can't say a whole lot.   Did wave to Gretzky as he walked by my 3rd row seats.... :icon_smile_wink:

Me and my wife went and saw "My Bloody Valentine 3D" last night.  She had a test to take for her RN degree and while we were in Indianapolis we ate at the Cheese Cake Factory.  Love that place.  On the way out we stopped and saw the movie.  Indianapolis was the only place near us that we could find it in 3D.  Since I had never seen a 3D movies, and she had, we went.  It wasnt a bad movie, the 3D was cool, and the glasses were neat.  No more red and blue cardboard.  They look like 1980's RayBans.

That's funny, my wife and I were just talking about this last night.  After our three kids and with both of us working we don't get out much anymore.  Our 10th anniversary is coming up in March..and it just so happens to be the same weekend as the Detroit Autorama :icon_smile_big:  We are planning to stay downtown for at least on night and since she has taken up photography she wants to take pics of the cars so it works out great.  We will go have a nice dinner and hit some of the bars, clubs and probably the casino.  I think it's important to do this stuff a couple of times a year at least :Twocents:

Glad to hear it Paul

Its been a long long time since me and my wife went out on a "date" with just the 2 of us. Which is why I stayed home this weekend, instead of going to Toronot with Gene to check out some very neat aero cars and documentation. Seems we always find time in our lives for the things that are important to us, other than the people who are right there with us. I sit back and think of how little personal time I actually spend with my wife, we are always together, but always running to do other things for other people, or things for our son, sisters, brothers, parents, friends that we don't just actually take the time out for just "us".

My wife and I are to busy being parents right now.  We need to get out also but she is studying for Nursing school and that kinda kills that.  I'm happy to say we are happy, but we do need time out.  Last week we went to a weekend stay at a hotel/mall in RI for our daughters Cheerleading competition so we do get out a little.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

We get out, but I wait until my wife is severely frazzled from her job & things at home, then dose her iced tea with triple zoloft & take her to a car show telling her it's a street fair. It works out great when I buy a fender or something & tell her she won it spinning the wheel like it was some big stuffed bear.

I have 3 as well, daughter 9 and a set of 6 yr old boys, and I can completely relate! We don't get to go out often but every once in a while you just have to. Yea, it can be costly for a few hours of single time but man it feels good. $100 is probably our average cost, which is why we don't do it too often. Babysitting effectively doubles the cost so I am looking forward to when my daughter is old enough to do it for us.

To pass the time in between the random dinner and a movie events the wife and I always set Saturday nights as "date" night. Which basically boils down to a quick dinner for the kids and getting them off to bed. Then we cook up a nice dinner and push a movie through the tv. We had NY strip steak last week. Yummie. Shrimp Scampi is also another fav. Its nice to have our own dinner (and a tasty one at that) and some "adult" oriented dinner conversation every week.  :D

Glad the 2 of you still get out. Its something that gets pushed to the wayside by family obligations sometimes.

And its nice to sit down and actually "eat" your dinner while its still hot without getting up 10 times during the meal..
