Help me pick a new phone.

My old phone is shot, my contract is up and I'm ready to upgrade!
I'm with Verizon and they will give $50 off a new phone as an incentive, they have good service but crappy customer care. I was looking at the Storm and their Military phone, which I'm not sure of the name, but it can go under water for 30 minutes and a guy ran his over with his dually and it still worked, the storm isn't as strong, but costs $50 less and does more.
Since the world is going touch screen, I don't know if I should to or go with another flip phone to beat up, any ideas? I'm stuck in the middle, or if you know of a better carrier or a better phone, let me know, thanks!

My bro has the Boulder, the rugged phone, and he likes it.
It has a few flaws, like all the Y's in texts are capital, but he cant brake it. He leaves it open under trucks when he is working on them, and stuff falls on them. No breakage yet.

Thanks, I could see it as a great mudding and work phone, but not so much boredom cure, I need to go back and look at its features before I make a decision.

i was waiting for this thread 2 pop up...don't get a fancy phone...the rules of life say if u do u'll break it and be pissed...so i would avoid the storm...esp cuz its first gen and i'm sure its still got bugs...cool phone i guess but unless ur donald trump i don't think u'll use all its features...but ur call...plus money talks...we all kno that...go w the boulder or whatever rugged phone they have out right now

I was about to get the Storm, since it came out just as I got my "New Every Two" offer. It's a real nice phone and all, but I didn't want to pay $80+ a month for the service (you need to upgrade to a data plan or WTF they call it) since it's a Blackberry.

I went with the LG Dare instead. It has some pretty nifty features (3.0 MP camera, touchscreen, auto orientation - ie. if youre texting or taking a picture and turn the phone on it's side, the display will adjust) and sharp looking but you do have to be pretty careful with it.

I have my same cheap, pay as you go, Virgin Mobile cell phone for the last 5 years & love it. It's an Audiovox that's almost ready for a new battery which is discontinued, so I'll be looking for a new phone as well very soon.

Cheap crap its the best crap, because you either want it to break or don't care so it just doesn't!
But then something anoying happens like the battery goes bad.

Hey, my mom just got a call last night at mdnight and it was my brother. He somehow dropped his Boulder and cracked the screen. 
Maybe it isn't as rugged s it is advertised...?

Uh Oh, thats not good, I'm going to drop it in front of the guy in the store and then go swimming later just to test it out, make an underwater phone call and text message that is if I get it, which its still looking good, the only thing I really need off the storm is the directions, turn by turn and internet sometimes and the games are a plus, but can your brother take pictures and upload them to the computer, and if he can how good do they look?

You can get internet, navigation and games on other phones. I have VZ Navigator or whatever its called and internet on my Dare..though I Plan on cancelling them cuz they add $10 to my monthly bill.

FWIW, that Boulder is butt ugly.

The storm and all that other stuff forget it. No chance...... No clue...... No even close.

iphone isn't offered under verizon...its counterpart, the voyager is also a great phone

It doesn't have to be verizon, but it has too be a good sevice!! I go out into the "boonies" and sometime I need to make a call.
The iphone is cool but no insurence so I cant get one.
