I'm looking for a full carpet kit for my '69 (Medium Saddle) and was hoping(besides EBay) someone here could steer me towards a good vendor.

Thanks!

I was going to post a thread tomorrow with pictures, but since you asked.  I here about ACC and Trim Parts.  I bought Trim parts and am not happy with what I see.
I was warned about this exact issue of being "lumpy" in the pass side corner.  I tried to get out of the order but was told over and over how better Trim part carperts are.  I don't like lumps.  And no they won't smooth out.    No problem with the driver side.
I was told if I was unhappy I would have to pay the shipping back, and I find that unfair that if the product is not as promised, I have to pay a second time?  I'm not mentioning the dealer at this time, I'm to frustrated, it was hours fitting and cutting them in. :brickwall:  You can't tell if the fit is not good until you cut the console area out and lay things down, then it's to late because you cut it. :eek2:

You should mention who it was. If a vendor can't or won't stand behind his product, he should be called out on it. Same goes for the ones who do stand behind their stuff. They should be praised. You do us all a service by warning us about who to stay away from.

Looking at your pics, I can clearly see why your not happy. Nice work though making the most of it.  ;)

You're right,it is totally unsatisfactory, since they are only around $125.00,order an ACC,take that one out,cut it up into 4 pieces and just park on it !!!!

How about 150.00 plus shipping.  I haven't installed the seats yet because I'm thinking about just losing all that hard earned money and getting ACC.  I wanted to see if others had the same issue with ACC first.

As for the vendor, he has been good otherwise, I did email him ( and I wasn't happy after wasting several of my Saturday hours. ) and Trim parts, if they offer to replace the carpet for free, then I'll let things alone.  If not, I'll mention who it is.  I only need a new front piece, Geez, what could that cost them ?  :Twocents:

This is the best picture I have of that spot on my Charger.......The pedal basically should "be" the front right corner of the heal pad.

And Yes it is Auto Custom Carpet......Way better fit than Trimparts IMHO.

My carpet was from ACC as well.  The fit was pretty good (got it 10 years ago)  It was a bit short on the edges (the sill plates barely cover it)  Also the heel pad was sewn on crooked.  But for the most part it fit well.

IIRC there is a third brand out there that is "uber" correct....it is so premium that it gets shipped unrolled in a flat box and has no wrinkles & fits right out of the box.  I believe Dave Walden from ECS has a hand in its manufacture.
There is a thread about them on Moparts...I am at my mom-in-law's right now so I dont have acces to the thread at the moment.

I believe we discussed this on the phone Rob ???

I guess the moral of the story is you get what you pay for & too many opinions makes Rob a dull boy :nana:

Yeah, but there has to be someone out there with nice Trim carpets?  No ones coming forward yet.  Rob may have to eat 150+ bucks and get the ones you guys pointed out from the start.  :'(  Rob is sad. :P

Rob would like to mention Trim Parts wrote back and said they will pay shipping back, and send me a new front section at no cost. The Vendor also wrote back and said the fit was not acceptable and to call And he will show me how to work the lumps out. I thank both but I think I'd rather install a new front piece. I will update soon.

Maybe Rob should listen to Brian when he cals for advice! You likely wouldnt be having this problem if you had.

Now go pull youre dash frame out so you can do that right from the start, instead of getting mad at it!!

::) I was waiting for those comments. You deal with ACC, I'm sure there are many happy Trim Part customers out there. Let's give them a chance to correct the issue. Chris's friend was happy?  As for the dash, not everyone has access to a body shop?  A tight damp garage is not inviting to pull out a huge dash to paint , that looks fine as it is. I got the 100.00 pint of black swede after waiting 2 months, and sent the steering shaft out to be painted. My original dash is fine. Chill out there big fellow, everything is gonna be just fine.  :-\

I got trim parts carpet and I have not installed them yet, but when I removed it from the box to have a look I noticed that when they stitched the heel pad on they wandered off course with the stitching and it looks like crap.
When I  contacted them about it they  said send it back and we will send you another you pay the shipping, return  shipping for me is $200us  since I,m in Australia.
Bad quality control and if they fit like Robs that is just the icing on the cake.
I would not buy from them again

200.00 :o   Not to be a wise guy, but could you get by with some nice floor mats?
I was told by the vender the lumps can be worked out.  I want a fresh start so a new front piece would be best for me.

Not for me, I,m doing an original restoration. It was $100  to ship to me, but it would cost an extra $200 to send it back and then return another one.
I,ll have a fair bit in shipping by the time this project is done.

1969chargerrtse

So in emailing the vendor today, he tells me 2 restoration shops say I didn't trim it correct. Hmmmmmm.  I mentioned I've had over 50+ rare Muscle cars in my 40+ years of cars.  And I guess the fact that I've completely restored several cars from top to bottom doesn't matter?  One of my cars went from rust and bullet holes to a 1984 March issue of Muscle car mag, but I can't lay rugs?  I took the old Trim Parts rugs and laid them back in, notice how much better they fit.  I also took another shot of the new rugs out of the car, and you can see the divots etc, and it would be worst if I pulled them up to simulate the hump.     I have no issue with Trim parts, I thank them for the new piece being shipped.  And I thank the vendor for his help and advise as we had several nice emails back and forth.  I'm just positive, it's the rugs, not me.  :yesnod:  We shall see as I'll be back when the new set is in.  I hope they are as good as what I pulled out.

Back to the original post...

Since its for the GL and I don't think its big concern to be "original", why don't you have an upholstery shop sew one for you? They can use better carpet and foam rather then jute. I have a carpet a local custom guy stitched up for my Roadrunner and 25 years later it still looks great. Its much more plush and fits a lot nicer then the ACC carpet I've put in other cars.

I believe John McBride is making that carpet and I heard Walden is done with it. I also heard that the "flat" shipping is over as well. That must have cost many more times to ship as the rolled up stuff. I just ordered a carpet from McBride for DiscoTona so I'll let you know how it fits. Roger Gibson told me he has used it a couple of times and likes it much better than the other guys (ACC etc) stuff. They will ship it with the underpadding loose as well if you have original jute you want to use or you want to play with the underpad stuff yourself to get it to fit better before laying the carpet on it. As for this "shipping flat" business....I have never had a problem installing the rolled up stuff. Any wrinkles or creases pop back to normal either under sunshine or with gentle use of a heat gun. All NOS carpet is rolled up so - what the hay.

Yes, there are some, you have sharp eyes my friend.  But much much smaller and I'm sure can be worked out.  Keep in mind I was doing this in very cold garage weather.

Ok - I spoke with Walden today and he is still doing the carpet - It is not McBrides's stuff. It is ACC doing custom, better tolerance runs for him. They just keep jacking the price on him though so it's getting pricey. I bought it anyway because it is still cheaper doing stuff right the first time.
