Hi guys, a quick question about the '73 Dodge Charger...

Did hideaway headlights ever come on any '73 Dodge Charger?

Thanks.

Regards,
-Greg

No. But then again I'm only 99.999% certain.   :popcrn:

This guy has this car listed on "Car Domain" as a 1973 Dodge Charger SE.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3050022

He says hideaway headlights were a "rare option" in '73 for the Charger, but because this Charger was built in late 1972, it received the hideaway headlights.

I've never heard of such a thing on a '73 Charger.

Also, the car does not look like an SE, because it does not have the rear window louvres.
However, he explains that away in his signature on another forum by stating that the car came with a "louvre window delete."

Again, I've never heard of such a thing on '73 Chargers.
Am I correct to be calling BS on this guy's tomfoolery?

not... on 71/72s were optional on R/Ts-Superbees-Rallyes and Standart on SEs... unexistant on 73/74.

71 was the first year concelead lamps weren't part of the Charger itself like standart equippment, and 73 was the first year UNEXISTANT.

I saw that on cardomain before and wondered about it myself. hidden headlights were not available for 73 model year. a cost cutting measure by Chrysler. As far as not having the 3 slit opera window common to SE's for 73, Chrysler did come out with a spring special it was the same plastic insert except it was one opening instead. the car in the pictures is in my opinion, a base hard top or a Rallye edition. there is no insert. Note that the interior door trim panels are SE Broughham option but that may just be something that someone just put in there for whatever reason

as stated, the SE interior panels are 72 with woodgrain cut to be able to fit on the 73 doors ( 73/74 doors are lower )

and as far SEs without louvers on 73... here the option is explained:

Spring Special was on 74 mid year production
