Looks like the tree pretty much took out the driver area. Looks like the hood did ok considering.

Not so sure about that. One is the debris field which goes down the road (I believe the accident occurred out of frame to the left), looks like some leaked fluids from the rad hose on the curb, and the fact that someone marked the front passenger tire with marking paint so that an investigation could occur.  

If they tagged a tree behind the drivers door it could easily rip the car in half.

Anyone looking for a cheap HEMI?

I've seen suicide bombers cars in better condition. The HEMI...Oh Yeah... it's dead. Just look at it.  Anyhoo, I'd like to know the real story behind this.

That picture reminds me of a friend I had a long time ago. He had a red 70 charger 440 6 pack. He wanted me to trade him my 67 ford pickup that I had just repainted and pick up his payments. I turned it down... A couple weeks later his charger looked pretty much like the one you have pictured here. They estimated his speed at 140 when he hit that tree.
