Wait wait, now I remmeber I was out drinking at the bar, when I drove home at 1 am and got lost in the desert, so I drank some more and fell out of my truck bed, I hit my head and I woke up nekid on the cold metal table and some green dude stuck a little bar up my *bum* and then knocked me out and put me back beside my truck that I woke up next to the next day, but I swear I wasnt too drunk, just a few cases of beer and a shots.

Yea, they have lots of that UFO/Monster Quest but they seem to be on early. I watch later in the evening cuz I think that The Universe and Cities of the Underworld are cool. Plus they do some cool history stuff - On Lincon/Washington, the story behind Valkyrie (WWII). That's all good stuff.

But most of those TV shows are the same half-dozen incidents being rehashed year after year.  (Hell, decade after decade.)

All that UFO, Nostradamus, and Apocalypse stuff is kinda odd for the History Channel. But I do love Modern Marvels, Dogfights, and all the other shows about a specific historical topic or event. At least it's not the Hitler Channel, like it was a few years ago. I do miss those kick ass "In search of..." w/ Leonard Nimoy from back in 70' that they stopped showing a couple of years ago.

I'm "heh" towards the military channel. Used to be better when it was "Discovery Wings".

Is that the reality show about the logging crews? These reality shows are taking over all the channels. I was home sick on the couch a few weeks ago and was channel surfing. I came across a show called "The real housewives of Atlanta"(Bravo channel). My wife and I watched in horror for about 20 minutes. At that point I said no wonder the rest of the world hates us.

as for the DISCOVERY CH . they just went down hill in the last 5-6 years the only show i watch on there is MYTH BUSTERS

and TRU TV blow except for after 11pm then its FORENCIC FILES till the early morning .

A while ago on HC, IIRC, they had a Abe Lincoln special.  I figure, cool I'll watch.  US history around that time interests me.  Then they have Gore Vidal subjectively commenting on how Lincoln was a depressed mess, had no idea what he was doing and then somehow going off on a tangent talking about how the war on terror is the same as a war on dandruff?!?!  If that was able to get televised on that channel, I was done watching.  Sounds like I haven't missed much.

Personally, History channel to me is one of the best channels there is. I love it and watch it all the time. Ya, Monster Quest and UFO hunters is out there a little, but I like Axe Men, Ice Road Truckers (a lot), Modern Marvels and when they have the WWII stuff on. With the execption of a few misc shows, 90% of all the tv I watch is Discovery Channel, History Channel, Travel Channel, and National Geographic Channel, Speed Channel.

At least it is all much better the Americal Idol bull shit

I love pawn stars and I do learn alot about history , guns , cannons , confederate money , john hancocks signature , armour helmet .  Very cool stuff comes into the shop .  They have some very cool cars too, last night the real shelby cobra body found in a storage locker the guy got paid to haul it off.   WOW    They bring in history experts every week

The WW11 in colour was pretty good while it lasted. But I guess it was just a teaser. Now it looks like it's back to the same old junk.
   I don't know how Dish Network is, but with Direct TV you have to "upgrade$" to get History International witch looks like that channel actually has things on it that have something to do with history.

One thing I've noticed from these TV shows over the years - you can often tell what era a historian digs just by looking at them.

first i think RICK paid him $700.00 for the chronometer he didnt hold a gun to his head either  and  knowing what the cost of the repair was going to be was a key factor its not like that was an old wind up watch that repair costs are around $300.00 - $400.00 it was chronometer and would cost a bit more to repair , let alone trying to find somebody who does repairs on a chronometer  here is an example of a qoute given to a guy on one of the WATCH forums

Marine Chronometer Repair

Hello-I have a chrononmeter that I would like to get repaired. It says on the chrono face 'VERSGLASHOTTER UHRENBET RIEBE'. I believe it is vintage WW2, gold hands and until recently ran fine. However when I last went to wind it-I felt like the key was just turning without it's customary resistance which leads me to believe that the only thing wrong is connected with the wind up mechanism (please note I know nothing about intricate watch mechanics and this is only a guess). I brought the chronometer to a watch repair facility in Fort Lauderdale where I live and was quoted a 3900 expected quote which I thought was outrageous and totally beyond reason. If anyone who reads this knows of any place in South Florida or any chrono enthusiastis that could guide me to a more reasonable repair person I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks! Chris

History Channel really has started to suck.  I think it's a marketing thing.  They moved alot of the good content up  the dial to the Militay Channel and History International Channel.  Sign up for the more expensive package and get the good stuff again.
