The #76 car belonged to Eddie Evans who operated the Antique Race Car Museum in Bedford Indiana.   Eddie used that car to tow another Superbird or his race cars.    Eddie passed away a few years ago, and his collection was sold at the Kruse auction at Auburn Indiana last May.    There were five or six of his Superbirds at the auction.  Most were driver quality and went for very reasonable prices.   This one sold for $65,000  - a bit of a deal for a 6-pack 4-speed car.   

I remember heading home from Talladega in 1988 seeing this Bird towing another Bird on a trailer.

It would look cooler if it didn't have the side pipes and had some Nascar type wheels. But it's still a cool car!

Hey Danny, I would like to go to the auction too but I think temptation might get the best of me. That looks sweet, I agree about the removal of the sidepipes and adding some old Nascar style steelies would be great. When removing the sidepipes I think that I would put on the period correct Nascar exhaust as well.

it has my two favorite aftermarket parts--the lever lock radiator cap and the corrugated radiator hoses. 


I don't know how many of those I have in boxes here...I take them off immediately when cars come in.

It's odd that the red isn't painted down onto the nose.
I hope whoever gets it leaves it the way it is, it's got unique character this way.
