What's the problem here????

Here are some pics of my engine compartment.  I noticed something wrong after I installed the correct alt hardware I received from Megaparts(thanks Brian).  I have too many pulleys and my crank pulleys are 7 inch, and....my fan setup is not correct as well..  I'm guessing the setup I'm trying to correct is because mine was originally an ac car and now it isn't and PO just tried to make it work.  Anyway the belt that goes to the alt rubs the bolts on the WP housing.  So long story short, this is what I have.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

so then, I went to my coronet and this is what I want to happen.  So the question I guess is where can i get the stuff to make my charger setup look like my coronet setup.  Who has the goods. Need a smaller crank pulley system and need the fan hardware/ fan etc....

Can you take a little nic out of the bolt, just enough for it to clear? Or re-rout the belt and run the alt. off the first groove :shruggy:
Let it alone^.

I always use Button Head Allen bolts on the water Pump - got used to it after running March Pulleys for so long...     Seems like your whole set up is cobbled together ?  That idler bracket is from an A/C car and in the wrong spot - buschillon performance sells complete pulley and bracket sets i believe

Mike,

All you need is the correct water pump pulley and the correct 2 groove non a/c crank pulley.

And or course the right belts.

Exactly.   Brian or Ron, do you guys have a reputable source I can support for the correct parts. Thanks

Alex, thank you as well.  I want to try to support someone here first or a DC.com friendly vendor.  I'll go to Buschillon after if need be.

Thanks for the reaffirmation fellas, I like getting lots of opinions. :2thumbs:.

Alt brackets/hardware from megaparts...MINT!!!!  Thanks Brian

Firecore Wires.....MINT!!!  No guesswork there, he even labels the wires for you.  Had to modify my Taylor boot covers to go over the wire boots but it will work out great.  Thanks Ron

I use a 2 groove water pump pulley so I can have 2 belts driving my waterpump/fan. If 1 belt breaks on a road trip, another one is still there to keep the engine cool. You can drive with no alt. or no pwr. steering, but not without a water pump. I have March pulleys on mine but you can get stock pulleys from the junkyards still on small blocks. Just another way to do it.   :Twocents:
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Any advantage to going with the 5.25 crank pulley?

On a racecar, yes....on a streetcar, no. The underdrive crank pulley will slow down your waterpump and alternator which will lead to cooling and (low) battery problems.  ;)

ACUDANUT

Dude get a fan clutch. Less wear and tear on the water pump and you get more horse power.  When that water pump does fail, OUT goes your Radiator.  The fan will EAT your radiator (when the water pump fails).  Been there, done that.
