Okay, so it's time for me to finish up my engine. Somewhere here I've heard mention of needing to "degree the camshaft" or "advance the camshaft" when installing. What does this mean? Can someone give me an appropriate method for installing? Also, I know I'm going to need a timing light so that I can set my timing during engine break in. Will this one suffice? http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-G1059&N=700+115&autoview=sku

Degreeing in the cam is just a method used to verify that the camshaft is installed on the correct intake centerline. There are cam degreeing tutorials on the Comp Cams and Crane Cams websites.

That is a good choice for a timing light. The dialback feature comes in handy when you want to check the total advance. Most avtermarket balancers come with 60* of timing marks built in which allows you to look at the timing curve without a dialback light. There is also timing tape available if you're using a stock balancer.

Wow,

Reading on Comp's website, the degreeing procedure requires a lot of things that I don't have/ don't know how to use! However, it does say it is just to make sure there isn't anything wrong. Is there any way I can install the camshaft and get it at about the right position?
