As some of you know I operate a small restoration shop in southern NJ and have a 68 Roadrunner that was hit in the rear driving to a car show many years ago . The car needs everything from the doors back , roof is fine . I just wanted to say that my 5000 dollar  order from AMD was money well spent , the metal is OEM thickness , not tissue paper thin like Goodmark , it truly is a new day !!!!

Let us know how they fit, and what you think of the fit and how the install is :2thumbs: I need qtrs for my charger, want to know how the AMD stuff is :2thumbs: I'll be watching :popcrn:  Alan

Did you get the new rear frame rails from AMD ?
I have a customer that wants to have a set installed, wondered the quality of the Chinese metal?
Nothing to see here folks, its just a Bluesmobile

daytonalo

Waiting on the frame rails and outer wh , Amd is not tooled up on the frame rails , so I believe they are Goodmark crap .

Guess I am confused then. He shows them in his catalog, but he doesnt have them yet? Or he is buying them from Goodmark?
Do you think there is that much difference in the quality between AMD and Goodmark?

daytonalo

I was confused and was getting jerked off , as you mentioned they have them in catalog but don't have them , after digging found out the out WH and rails are coming from Goodmark . I was told they are in tooling .

Larry

AutoRust

Are you getting them from Goodmark, or waiting for AMD? Or getting used ones?

daytonalo

From Goodmark , they where shipped from Goodmark on tuesday , guess what they are lost in shipping

daytonalo

The problem is this Cupcake , We looked @ two rear clips , and they needed qtrs , t-floor , ext , inners , outers , so what do you have at the end of day ??? A rusted out rear clip that needs everything . Here is a few pics of frame rails . One more thing , AMD has very nice parts , but the QTRS where shipped in cardboard and the top got a little tweaked .

:iagree: that is looking good! lots of new metal!

daytonalo

To the neg people out there  AMD only offered one crossmember for 68-70 , please free to spend 100 k to tool up for 68

Charger-Bodie

Larry , Did they let you take that orange jump suit home from prison? Or did you buy it at a garage sale?

By the way , Its looking Really good!!

68 and most 69 cars have round hole. maybe $50.00 to tool up and make the right part that 100,000 68-69 plymouths use. :popcrn:

daytonalo

jerry

the panels are the same except for the gas filler hole.now since the oval hole was used on late 69 and 70 only and since the majority of the b -body Plymouth's and Dodge's used round hole why not make the correct panel for the many many more cars with the round hole or take a little time and repo both?the repo panel is just wrong for that car. not knocking you or your fine work. :popcrn:

daytonalo

How long have you been restoring cars ??? Many of these parts just came out and I will spell it out for you , it has to be cost effective for anyone to repop parts and a small hidden detail would have not been worth the extra 100 k in retooling. My only option if you were in charge would be to hold up a paying cust for who knows maybe 5 years or never until they make a round hole . I case you have not noticed people are not spending money and cant turn work away . Thanks for the advice Cupcake !!!

BigBlockSam

hey Larry

looking good!   i'm glad that work release program is working well for ya . i wish i knew you needed that third member . i have one still in the box that i never used. i would give ya a great price on it .  Rene

jerry

probably as long as you are old.but what difference does that make?it was an opinion about a part  not about you using it on that car.i think they should have made both round and oval. :Twocents:

AutoRust

Like Larry said, its all about the $$$$   Tooling is big money, they make what they feel is the best selling item, then work back from there. They have HUGE money into all the reverse engineering and stamps, so let them sort it out. Its not like there new products are flying off the shelves right now, so I am sure they are second guessing a bit what they have developed.  Between Goodmark and AMD, I bet they have spent 10 million on R&D, engineering, tooling, stamping, materials, labor, shipping, storage.
And there is always someone thats not happy, it didnt fit perfect, they didnt make frames for my 63, how come its so much money.

Larry, did you tack the rear clip together on the floor then install it onto the body? Or was that just a test fit?
Nothing to see here folks, its just a Bluesmobile

daytonalo

Thanks for reply ! Yes we screwed entire rear clip together for fitting then removed rear clip , welded rails , inners , outers , trunk , ext and welded truck filler to QTS , by the way horrible fit , contour way off . We then reinstalled rear clip , installed susp and rear , put it back on four wheel and welded Qtr's on .

Nice work on the Road Runner ! How is the fit,and quality of all the different panels ? I have had good luck with my AMD parts so far.

daytonalo

Better than expected , but lets face it , it is still jap crap not OEM !!! We had to pull ,bend and tweak some of it to fit
