I need to know what the right clutch fan is for a 440 in a 1969 application.  I have 2 fans here, 1 is off a 1970 318 car, the other is off a 1974 440 truck application.  They are identical.  The problem is, it's way too close to the radiator, like the thickness of a piece of cardboard MIGHT fit in between it.  I know it shouldn't be this close.  Can anyone shed some light on this for me

I had the same problem with the MP set, so I found/used a #0 3462105 clutch that was used on 340 in an A bodyand also fits 69 R/RB w AC. I got the part # off the box BUT the box was not sealed when I got it.  This setup gives me good clearance. John

I just bought the Hayden 2765 Jaquar fan clutch. I haven't unstalled it yet but it looks right. I ordered it online from Advanced for $39.00 I think.

That Hayden fan is the one that most say gives you the most clearance of all the fan clutches available.  And I believe the correct fan diameter for the 69, at least in a 4-speed application, is the 18-1/2 inch dia fan.  Interestingly, its the same fan used with the 318 in 69 at least according to the Mopar Parts manual.

Yep, that is the shortest clutch available. I tried fitting it with my aftermarket aluminum rad and was not happy with the clearance so i went with a pusher electric fan. It (2765) should work with a stock rad....

What about a lite weight fan used with the 2765 clutch? I tossed my old clutch fan :brickwall: so the whole setup would need purchased. If I am going to spend the money I would rather kick in a little extra as unless a disaster happens a fan is a one time buy. I searched Summits and only found OEM style fans that work with a clutch which makes me wonder if the extra weight is needed?[color]

The correct clutch is the 2806070,however be prepared to spend big $$$ for a good one.The alternative is this one,# 2863233.68/71 340 with a/c.Only 2 1/4" thick.Still a couple hundred bucks for a good one.

I see Mancinis has a 1250 cfm electric fan for 40 bucks. Would have to make a mount for it and then wire it up. Dunno, I like the idea of no fan for HP gain and safty. I think a stand alone wiring for it would be best as I don't want to cut my YO harness. Plus it is a easy enough thing to change back to stock.

the big question is how do you get that hayden fan to bolt to the water pump.  I got the shortest bolts possible and still dont have enough room...suggestions?

A383Wing

you are supposed to use 4 studs in the water pump, then install pulley and fan clutch, and attach the clutch to the studs with nuts. It's hard to tell in this pic, sorry

that is the clutch fan for designed for the charger correct.  I got this hayden shortened shaft one and even if i could get bolts in it.  It looks like it would hit the power steering bolt.

power steering bolt? something is really off if it hits the power steering at all
