In Florida in Tradition down here today I heard of a very cool sounding place (to the redneck in my) 2 hours foot treck, 6 fences with numerous "no trespassing" signs, a few canals, and a small dam, there are R&R box cars, the side ripped open on them all (theres a few) a couple BIG concrete blocks that were unearthed and there was a huge satilite dish that disappeared, and last time pit bulls.
I havent been back there, I want to take my jeep, I just need open fences, my dad doesnt mind me mudding and tearing it up in the woods :icon_smile_big:
BUT I'm NOT here to talk about my "Stupidity" or "childishness" or anything about me!!! Ok, keep those out of here!! I will be mad at you and you will hear it if you post about me! :yesnod:
I might not even go there, but I really want to see it or learn about it!!
How do I go about figureing it out? (if I had been there I could have found out)
the girl that told me (that went) said she thought it had to do with the government, which doesnt surprise me nowadays :rotz:
Who do I call? Where do I go? Who do I ask? I want to know about this place!!
Thanks, any info would be much obliged!

Go to the local county clerks office. There, they will have plat maps with all property owners names on every piece of land in that county. Free govt. information, just for the asking. Don't have to tell anyone why. Just ask to look at the book(s).

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

If I did understand what you're asking, my suggestion would be to locate the property in question on a map, then go to the local tax office of the same town/city/village, & ask them to help you determine who the property owner is. It's public information, so there's no secrets. They should also have the owner's mailing address since they probably pay taxes on it & have record of it.

What you'll need to know on the property before you get a name, is what they call "The Lot & Block Numbers" regardless of whether it's a small lot or acreage. (this is why you need to go to the tax office) It could be several pieces of land together owned by any number of people, companies, or even the municipality. That could be either the town/city/village/ or the county, state, or federal government.

They may ask you why you want to know, but it technically doesn't matter why. Don't tell them you were on the land, only that you're aware of it & curious who owns it. Once you get the owner's name & address, you can further research it. The people in the tax office might even know the history of it & be able to explain. If there's box cars on it, the land could still be owned by whatever rail road was in the area. Any time the land was bought, sold, or foreclosed on, they will have record of all the previous & current owners.

Don't give a load of why not to, I just want to know whats there, which MAYBE will result in me going back there, but I doubt it.

HOLD EVERYTHING! You said you own a Jeep. But, you said your Charger was your first car... :whistling:.
JK with you man! :2thumbs: Does your county have a auditor website? If so, you can follow roads on a map on the computer until you find the plot, and find the owner. :yesnod:

Sounds like a good way to get some 00 buck shot in your ass.  Hell with the dog, beware of the owner.

Did read the top post. Which is why I asked why you would want to go into somewhere that is clearly marked NO TRESPASSING. Seems like one who could read would get the hint, DO NOT GO IN.

Did you sleep through reading comprehension class?  What part of a sign that says NO TRESPASSING don't you understand?

I'm not trying to preach at you, as we've all done things that were *ahem* less than adviseable...  However, what Danny asked did NOT deserve that type of response.  His question is valid, your response is both rude and inappropriate.

Want to do something blatantly illegal (if you want, I can probably find the Florida statute on trespassing)?  Fine.  Don't bring it up on a website forum and expect everyone to condone your actions as if it's just hunky-dory to walk onto someone else's private (and clearly marked) property - much less drive a vehicle all over it.  Do that at your own risk - and I do mean risk of bodily harm by the property owner.  I suspect he could shoot you without fear of a jury finding him guilty of anything.

NO TRESPASSING MEANS NO TRESPASSING. Unless you want to get shot. Find somewhere else.

If it were my property you were trespassing on after I marked it with no trespassing signs, I'd have that jeep stopped with a hole in the block and you wondering what the hell happened. I'll guarantee you wouldn't consider it a second time.

It may be time for you to do some more ... You lost ground with that one.

Really read the whole thing, I want to know what it is so I don't go back there, if I can figure it out, then I don't have a reason to go there, and since that's already been answered and I'm not dead or telling you how cool it was then I did go back there!
I really don't care about a couple old rail cars and cement block enough to walk through mosquitoes, canals, and Florida weather for 2 hours each way, I would drive it (off-roading) but that wont happen, so let it die, I didn't really plan on going back there anyway but the idea was cool enough to bounce around a bit.
Thanks to everyone that helped.
