Yeah I know the guy passed away  over 30 years ago.  Thing is I still miss him.  Putting to the side his amazing talent and awesome good looks, if you study up about him he was such a wonderful caring giving person. I ask you not write about any negative things about him please. He's done more good than harm and had helped so many people in need. He's done more in his 42 years than most do in a life time. Did you know back in the day if you hung around his gate he would actiually call down to his uncle Vester and ask how many people are at the gate?  And this super star would tell his uncle, send them up. Amazing, what person of that position would to such a thing?  None. I miss those good ole days. Keep in mind he was a huge car bike fan. All his toys are at Graceland to view. Anybody have any nice Elvis stories to share?

mikepmcs

Yup, big Elvis fan here as well.  Actually my whole family is. :yesnod:  Only stories I have are when my mother and her sister saw him in Hawaii, my Aunt peed her pants.

The pic with him on the motorcycle... my next door neighbor Bobby Orr, has a good friend that bought a bike from a lady that had a tree growing in and around it down in the Boston area.  With the parts, he received a seat that had some special markings on the bottom of it.  Long story short, he did the whole bike back to specs and put this seat on it.  Turns out the seat said "Specially Made for Elvis Presley" on the bottom and the bike was to be featured with him on the cover of this magazine called The Enthusiast(i think that was the name of it)  Anyways, my ex GF's friend bought me this poster one day for my birthday many years ago of Elvis on this bike(the picture shown here) and when my neighbor came over one day he happened to tell me this story about this bike cause we were talking about my Ironhorse and got on this subject somehow and I think it was because I had an Elvis Cd on, I don't know..... not even aware of the poster sitting 10 feet above his head in my living room.  When he was done, I showed him the poster and said like this bike? He went crazy and said that's it, that's the bike right there, my friend in Mass owns that bike.  Here's the kicker, he bought the bike for $50.00 from the lady.  He even went so far as to tell me that Willie G or someone in the Davidson family called the guy and offered him a pretty good amount of money to put it in the Harley museum or something.

I always thought my father had a little Elvis thing going on when he was younger as well.  That is the other picture.

I used to sing Elvis songs at the local bar when I drank.  In between the Grease Duets and Billy Joel with the karaoke lady.

Bought a 69 Roadrunner across the street from Graceland in 1987 when I was in Navy "A" School in Millington, all I remember was the graffiti on the stone wall surrounding it.   :rotz:

When Elvis died, I remember exactly what I was doing. I was in Hawaii and I had strung some straws over some 7up cans and I was trying to jump them with my skateboard in my front yard listening to the radio.  They broke in with the special report and remember my mother breaking down when I ran in and told her he had died, and of course I could hear my aunt wailing in the background cause that is who my mother was on the phone with at the time, so of course I started balling, it was a mess, and I've been a huge Elvis fan ever since.

That's all I got for now.

Board member Telvis who got married and sold his charger last yr. is a big fan.. he's only posted three times in the past year,..
I recall several posts on The King.. over the years,.. but a search didn't really reveal the ones i thought i remembered... anyhow,.. i know Elvis was Jewish and actually blond..  :shruggy:  :scratchchin:
I also know Elvis and James Brown shared alot of musical intrests and they actually played Jubilie Gospel togeather privately in a motel room and prior to that shared their inital top ten hits in 1956...

Oh yeah the clock in the one picture.  My buddy John who was my Master Chief  quite a few years ago, was heading down to Memphis on some Navy business.  Knowing what a big Elvis fan I was, he asks me, "hey Mikey, you want I should get you some ting from Memphis when I gets dare"(in my best Brockton Mass Italian)
So he goes down there and the whole time he's gone I'm thinking , here it comes, the greatest souvenir of all time is going on my wall or on my table.  It's gonna be something awesome I can just feel it.  The excitement builds and I just can't wait til he gets home cause I'm thinking it's gonna be the centerpiece in my living room and be everything I base my whole design on.

He gets home on a Sunday and when I walk in on Monday this is sitting on my desk in quality assurance.  Don't get me wrong, I'm appreciative and I would never trade it for anything, but it just begs the saying, "my friend went to.....and all.....was this lousy t shirt"  I laughed so hard when I saw it, because it's just typical of the bad taste that was all too common in the Navy.  John is still a very good friend, and I wouldn't trade him for the world either.  He's the one that has gone out of his way to try to get me a job at the Veterans Administration  and he still takes care of his own just as he did when he was a Chief in the Navy.

I saw him in New Haven Ct in 1976. He handed a scarf to my buddy and I still have it. He really was a wonderful person. He touched so many hearts and made you feel like you could be his friend.  If you listen to " Elvis in concert" it is amazing how beautiful and strong his voice is. He was putting on some pounds and his voice was opera like. From all I've read he died of boredom. He was truly a genius at what he did and was just lonely and bored to death. He would spend hours out back in his meditation garden talking to God or his twin brother. On his last night, just before a sold out concert tour from Main to FL he played racket ball into the morning hours. After that he played his piano and sung gospel songs in his special built racket ball court building. He couldn't sleep due to the up coming tour the same day so he took some downer pills, a second pack, still he couldn't sleep and took a 3rd pack. He grabbed a book about the shroud of Turin ( a cloth believed Jesus Christ was wrapped in ) and went in the bathroom to read. It was there his heart stopped and he fell forward and died. Had his previous long time girl friend been there he may be alive but Linda Thompson couldn't deal with the backward up at night, asleep in the day routine so she called it quits. Linda never left him out of her sight. His new 20 year old girl Ginger had no idea he was away, and therefore he didn't get any help. He has left so very much to remember and listen to. He was Ill at that time, and had many health issues. Did you know his hair was pure white just like his Dads?  His hair dresser guy had to touch up his roots with black mascara while he was in the casket at Graceland.  I've been to Graceland 3 times and would love to visit again.  You have to see his trophy rooms.   Awards and trophy's, gold records and memorabilia everywhere.  :coolgleamA:

My Father is a big time Elvis fan.  We had an old time jukebox and he had it chocked full of EP 45's.  He has prolly all his albums, whiskey decanters, all kinds of stuff.

He wanted to name my little sister Lisa Marie but my Mom wouldn't let him.  His first daughter from his second marriage ended up with the name.

Here's a pic of the old man & me circa '70

Cool comments and pictures.  Here's a picture of me and an Elvis impersonator way back in the mid 80's, I was in my 20's way back then.  This was taken at his house in PA, I think I met him at the Carlise show.   I have no idea of his name, but ya gotta love his cars.  :drool5:

Love the 61 Chevy 427 R/TSE.  My first car was a 62 Impala conv, then I had a 63,64ss,65ss,66,67ss,68,69,70caprice Impala conv's and hardtops through later years.
I can still hear the wine of the 327 powerglide (powerslide) engine trani combo.  62 conv's were kinda common, but 61's were much rarer.

Good eye.  It's an SS, 348, tri-powered & a 4 gear.  One of like 100 or so.  Like so many of our cars, the old man got drunk and wrecked it one night.

I put prolly 100k miles on it when it sat in the garage.  Unfortunately he sold it (along with 3 parts cars)w/o telling my Mom as per the divorce settlement.

I grew up listening to Elvis because my mom was a dedicated fan, and so I am too. It's very relaxing to listen to his stuff.

I also remember very clearly the day that he died (faked his own death and became a supersecret undercover agent on the war against drugs for the Nixon administration). We heard it on the AM radio of 66 Fairlane on I-90 in Eastern Montana. What an ordeal that day was :'(

Part of Elvis history is what the poor kid went through with church groups and the media.  Insulting him, banning him and his records for being vulgar and ruining the morals of children. Then 50 years later a someone says " It's very relaxing to listen to his stuff ".  Now that's ironic.

I was 12 years old. I was riding my skateboard around the pool & sidewalks at a motel in Phoenix. My Mom came & said Elvis had died. Funny thing is that she wasn't even a fan...but it was just something that nobody even imagined would happen.

I'm acutally the only E.P. fan in my whole family. :icon_smile_tongue:

Speaking of which, just after Christmas, I caught a fairly long documentary on Elvis. It was the best I've seen yet, done mostly by his closest friend & had TONS of neat commentaries ans behind the scenes stuff.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Elvis sang way more blues, country and gospel than he did rock and roll. Even his sinful rock n roll is rated G by today's standards.
