So what's the holdup?

Sorry if I missed any obvious options but I think I hit most of the big ones. What's the biggest reason you haven't moved faster on your poject? For me it's a combination of things but mostly it's a money issue. I also have a problem with space and (I hate to admit) motivation. I can work 80 hrs a week to earn lots of overtime money but I just have a hard time working on a car at home after working on buses all night.

What's your story?

For me it's also a combination..

I only got one trip in my charger before the engine blew, so my motivation suffered from this. To ad to this I'm not that god with engines, so it took me a while to figure out what to do and how to do it. While figuring out what to do, I got royally screwed by a danish partsdealer, so that didn't help with anything.
However, now it seems that I will be getting back on the road in the spring, the engine is nearly done, and I only need to replace the torsion bars and front end bushings..

Mostly with the economy, my spending cash has dried up.

It's a combination of things for me, too.

1. Money is just okay for now, but there's no "extra" cash to put in to the project.
2. I was throwing good money after bad because of the screwing I got from the first shop. That makes it more difficult to be enthusiastic about the whole thing. I felt like I was just trying to fight my way to the milestone of getting in to paint. Meanwhile, work on the components removed from the car slowed and now has stopped.
3. The economy has affected the shop that was making it right. That's stalled things but if I can sort out my money, work will continue with the same guy.
4. The above things, and a wait for OEM quarter panels (I'm not starting a rant, so don't take it that way) really took the wind out of my sails.

Mine is a combination. I have an old foot injury and has been acting up lately but in turn that puts me in the basement to liquidate things to get more money   Time is some of it. When you get up with the chickens it is harder to be as motivated 12 hours later after working 9-10 hours a day. Hopefully I will be ready and have enough money this summer to get some paint on it.

Lack of money for sure. That's been the problem since the get-go. If I had money, A LOT more would be getting done on it.

I hate parting with the money to begin with. Or having to explain to the wife why the car needs parts that are going to cost hundreds of dollars, allthough she is very understanding. And then theres the lack of time and motivation. I don't like the idea of having other people work on my projects, so I would have to say time is the big problem, just not enough of it to go around.

Mines a rolling restoration, so when I do drive, its usually to test something I did. Usually the drive helps motovate me, because the car is in an improved state.

But recently I installed a used third member with a 3.91 suregrip. Suregrip works but there is a slight wine under lite throttle  . Then I just got done installing 3/8 fuel lines from the tank to the carb. I had all kinds of leaks from the pump to the carb. Got the leaks fixed, took it for a drive, now my transmission is slipping . I had hopped it would be something simple, but I sniffed the tranny fluid this mourning and it smells burnt.

I'm back to loosing motovation..

I'm fricken lazy and my garage has no heat.  I bought a bullet heater and had to take it back because it needs a 100 pd tank.  No multi fuel heater for me thanks.  All the stores are out of forced air heaters, just got back from lowes and home depot about an hour ago.  Anyone got a 40-50k btu propane forced air heater(bullet) they want to sell cheap or donate.

All I need to do is put my car together, probably take less than a day with 2 people.  Basically I need more pressure on me.  If I had a deadline I would most likely get it done.  I just finished wet sanding and buffing the hood yesterday, thank geezus my car is a driver. Some bodyman I am, hood was a turd and I tried to polish it, well.... i did it, i now have a polished turd!

Mine is a combination. At first $ seems to be the problem, but there are reasons for that beyond income. I, like some others was screwed by a body shop, which has left me saving up $ again for over 3yrs. I think getting screwed should be on the list of reasons.

This is very true. I'm so paranoid I'll get screwed by another body man I don't know what to do. That & parts don't fit/work or better stuff becomes available ..... it's a viscous cycle.

 I'd have to say, I'm over extended on the Auto front... four vehicles are a bit much for a guy with no job as is the case now...
I'd love to dump 20K into the RR and bring her back to vertual perfection and the charger could use a few things,..
But,.. Intill i get back into the positive cash flow these things will just have to wait..
after all they all run and pretty well too, so intill a tranny starts slippin or the tires wear out i'm gonna have to hold on any automotive enhancements..
I've no complaints other then i've gained 20 Lbs. and I ain't at all happy about that.

Motivation is my biggest problem. My cousin has a back injury and rcently it has gotten worse. He was/is my workmate on the car. He would help me with my car and I would help him with his car. I am taking the car to his place in the spring. He may not be able to help with installing anything, but at least he can look at things and give me input and in general just keep me going and keep me company while i work on it. We can also get things done on his car also since I will be at his place more often.

Mostly lack of skills. I'd have the money if I could stop buying more projects. When my progress is stalled I start looking for all the things I need and find a bunch of stuff that I don't. Now I have lots of cool stuff but my cars are still waiting for someone with more talent.
