Well I sent them my pictures from back in the day, to the web site commemorating the life and history of Carlsbad raceway. It was way back in the late 80ds when me and my old Charger pounded the lanes in the clean ocean air. But they covered up the best pic   ??? :ahum:

Well anyway I'm there... when I was Chargerhob.     ;D

The track does not exist anymore, land in Socal is to expensive.
Just the memories of a simpler time.

I'm e-mailing them so they can put a description in and fix the picture.   ;)

Beautiful car.  I have an ad for the 67 Coronet and Charger White Hat Specials that shows a background picture of Landy's 67 Coronet at Carlsbad.

I went to Carlsbad once when we vacationed in San Diego in about 1992. I wanted to check it out mainly because of all the history that came from that track.
When I got there, all I could think was...

...damn, this is a small track! :o

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Small shut down area that went up hill into a small mountain too.  :-X

There were times I wish I had big ass power disk brakes, but there was nothing available at the time.  :icon_smile_shock:

Not yet, I still have to rummage around for some papers work at my parants house. If I find a vin I'll post it.

Still marks as the stupidest thing I ever did.   :rotz: I could have stored it for 10 years, while I was schooling and working out of state.
My beef was with the state of Kalifornia and their crappy smog laws. It always passed but I had to change things to get it to look stock. Oh and the cam bothered them, sounded like a modified car.

I wanted to leave that state so bad, even the city was wanting dumb fees for our business to do business... planting trees or whatever they felt like. You squeeze the little guy to much and they're gone.

An interesting state when it comes to protecting you from you.  Contrast with the whole life is different in the ivory tower bit.
To think that at one time, that state used to have more dragstrips than anywhere else.  The cradle of drag racing.

Wow, I had forgotten all about Carlsbad.  I used to go there from 1982 to 1985 when I was in High School.  I spent a lot of time surfing in Carlsbad as well, all I can remember is parking across the railroad tracks now, there wasnt any buildings near the beach where we used to park.  I bet it doesnt look that way now.  Thanks for the link and thanks for the memories!!
