last two times i drove the car wife complaining of a gas smell when i pulled it into the garage. Pulled the hood and air cleaner and found this--- Do I need to replace the gasket between the carb and intake? If so, anyone recognize that model Holley so it will make my ordering of that gasket even easier? :)

I will give this a shot.

If the carb gasket is leaking fuel then it must be leaking vacuum also. One way to check for vacuum leaks is to idle the engine. Spray around the edge of the gasket with carb choke cleaner, and see if the idle temporarily cleans up and speeds up. The carb cleaner temporarily seals the vacuum leak.

I do not have advice on your Holley ID, except on most carbs I think the model number is stamped on it. Like on Edelbrocks it is stamped on to the front face of the base.

Ok, ill go try that. IF that is the case, how do I correctly fix a vacuum leak also?

I just looked all over that Holley Carb, and HOLLEY is everywhere, but the only number i see is on the top front, first digit is hard to see, but reads-- x0569 -- look familiar to anyone? :shruggy:

Have you checked the mounting bolts? Maybe they just need to be re-torqued.

no, ill go check that. I pulled off the air cleaner and it was date stamped 3/1994  :o so needless to say im ordering a K&N replacement tonight.

Ive been debating putting a new DEMON on the engine, may go ahead and order one and install it atop the CH4B intake I just got back from the bead blaster.

Should I see any kind of change with the Demon carb atop the CH4B intake vs this current setup with a Holley 3310?

You also need to make sure the bowl and accelerator pump screws are tight.

Exactly.....if the carb is leaking it's most likely the accelerator pump or bowl gaskets.  :yesnod:

Ron- do you have much experience or knowledge of the Proseries 4150 carb?

The pro-series are excellent carbs.  :2thumbs: On an engine like yours my recommendation would be a Proform 750 double pumper.

awesome, ill be sure to get the Proform 750 DP.

On that note- can you or someone else here educate me on what differences I would see with an M1 single plane intake vs. the dual-plane edelbrock I am running now?

The M1 single plane is more of a race manifold....works well with 4.10+ gears and 3500+ stall speed. On a car like yours with more street/less strip the RPM dual plane is a much better choice. Stronger throttle respose, more bottom end torque. Keep it and just add the PF 750 dp'er  ;)
