With a Holley Carb and double fuel lines it appears that the standard coil mounting would be tough, Where is everybody mounting their external coils on 440's with hi pro manifolds?

I prefer to mount them on the inner fender....away from vibration and heat.  :2thumbs:

The firewall is too far away from the distributor. Works ok with a smallblock because the distributor is at the back of the engine. I like to keep the coilwire 12-16in long.

What your referring to is the charcoal canister for the gas tank vent. I had both the canister AND the coil on the inner fender (on the inside not the top) i then modified my gas cap so it now vents out of the cap and was able to plug the vent line and remove the canister.

Thanks,

I dont have the charcoal canister and perhaps I can do the same. Its got a locking gas cap (not stock) and I bet it already vents. Any suggestions on that while were here?  :pity:

Depends, the cap i had was also "vented" but there was quite a bit of pressure required to push the spring open to vent through the cap and i was getting a very big buildup of pressure in the tank with the charcoal canister line plugged so i took the cap apart and cut the spring a bit so it takes alot less pressure to vent the tank.

You can contact Greg at Fabulous Fabrications (303) 666-9882.   He sells a coil relocation bracket that attaches to the intake manifold.  It works great, if you want to use a standard type coil with the Holley dual feed lines.

I don't have a 440 but I have a 383. My coil was in our lawnmower. I took it back when the lawnmower broke and now it's sitting on my shelf. My bracket for it is still on my intake manifold. Don't worry, I'm not gonna use the old coil. :icon_smile_big:

I used his but had to modify it a bit to get it to fit with my drop base air cleaner & my CH4B

Another option that might work is to use the coil bracket for the 6 pack motors, they mount the coil to the middle two intake manifold bolts, a friend of mine has this setup on a holley street dominator and speed demon carb on his 440 and it looks pretty good.
