I'm replacing the vinyl top on my '72 and was cleaning out the windshield lip prior to reinstalling the window when I noticed this stamping after I got all the sealent off. it sure looks like the last digits of the VIN like on the trunk lip and radiator core but I just couldn't make out the number. Unfortunately I had to keep pressing and wasn't going to crawl on the roof for a better look.
What do you guys think? stamping is located in the window lip right in the center.

So let me get this right... its stamped on the upper windshield channel before the roof?   :shruggy:

How many digits are we talking about here?  I confess I haven't looked at my rad support or trunklid - but, my engine
& tranny (if memory serves) is definately more than the last 6 digits of the vin.  Its either U0G164xxx or 0G164xxx.

Just hoping to learn here :popcrn:

I agree.

six digits to a sequence number
Seven digits = PN
eight digits = body stamping for that era
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Correct, right in the center of the channel.

...I don't remember seeing part number on other body parts?

My windshield is out so I went out in the -5* garage to take a look.  I even brought a wire brush.  I looked but I couldn't find it on my car, problem most likely being there is black glue still on the lip edge and FROZEN there, so I couldn't really see anything.  Maybe someone doing a restoration in a nice cozy warm garage would have better luck.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Yeah, If I had more time I would have crawled over it with a magnifying glass, but I need to get this DONE

Anyone else out there see this?

Maybe look up the part # for a roof skin and compare? (BTW nothing on two 69's that I just looked at)

You'll find lots of random stampings in formed sheet metal parts, they usually don't follow the manufacturer's P/N; perhaps engineering drawing numbers, etc. Or vendor's numbers.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
