I was looking at a 67' Newport 4 door that is for sale by me that has a 383 in it and I would like to drive it daily and was wondering if anyone had an idea of what kind of gas mileage I can get out of this car?

It's huge, it's heavy, it has a massive square shape that bludgeons the air out of the way and it has a big block engine.  If it gets 16-20 on the highway, be happy.

That couldn't get 20mpg if it were going down an elevator shaft with a tail wind.

I had a 69 Newport with a 383 for many years... it averaged 18 - 22 most of the time...

We had one of those as a family car and that's the same mileage that it got. Dad was so proud of that 383, but was mad when he found that it couldn't keep up with my 71 AMC Ambasador police interceptor. It had a 401 and just could not be beat.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

if it was tuned properly I'd say 17-20 would be possible on the highway driving 65 mph and keeping your foot out of it.
I got 23-24 out of my 68 coronet 318 on the highway

my 66 newport 383 gets an average of 14.5
