Cody, a bird strike can do that to any plane.  Bird strikes are not uncommon, but can be disastrous.
They make a mess when they hit the windscreen as well.  Man, the smell is terrible too.

He was referencing Anthony Vincenzo "Tony" Baretta(baretta tv show)

Baretta's birds name was Fred.

Merely pointing out the fact that a survivor on the plane might have used an alias because he didn't want to be identified.  So he picked Fred(tony's bird's name) and Baretta(Tony's last name)

Back on the subject... It's simply amazing what the pilot and crew did............. Hats off to them and the passengers for not freaking out. Seems calm was the order of the day..........

My wife is a flight attendant for Northwest, we were watching it as it happened...it was neat to have her comment on what was going on, due to her training.

Awesome crew and passengers on that flight!!!

Especially to the pilot, that's probably a situation that a lot of pilots may not have handled as well.

I figured Military background.  Fighters are the ultimate training ground for sure and only a handful can do it in the world.  Awesome!!!!! What a great story for the passengers, now that it is over of course.

There were already a dozen movies similar to that where Russians/Chinese/terrorists take over plane and try to kill (insert whichever) to get X amount of dollars. Usually these movies have Harrison Ford in them too, pretty played out movies imo.
