I put the 8-3/4 in My 73 .
It had 318 with the 904 tranny and 7-1/4 rear end.
I went back with 400 BB 727 and 8-3/4
The spring purch will not line up and will have to be cut off and rewelded in the right place ( carful to keep the correct degree-angle ) But I didn't have any problems with the drums.
If anything, They are extended out just a bit but You can measure Your wheel offset and take care of that.

Ghoste

Third gens have a wider track than 68-70 though.

Courtesy of mymopar.com. I believe the C-body dimensions are wrong.

Once I measured a 68 New yorker axle ( 8 3/4 BTW, what IS NOT ON LIST ) and was in fact SMALLER than my Charger... just about half of inch or 3/4, but smaller anyway

Mine came out of a 69 Newport ( I Think )
The only thing I had to do was move the spring purch's.
I had that done at a shop. I guess it's possible that They did somthing with the width but I don't think so.
Easy install and never had any problems.
Did They make differant width 8-3/4 :shruggy:
Here are some pics, I jacked the car up to get a better shot.

That's not all that's wrong (I wish they would ban that graphic from the web), they have the '62-'70 B body rears lumped together as the same while there are actually four different widths.

The E body rear end is 61 5/8" wide from drum-to-drum, the '68-'70 B body is 60 1/8" wide.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

you do realize there are more b-bodies than just the 68-70 model years... the 71-74 B Body 8 3/4 is a tad wider than that there E-Body axle.
