Last summer I received about 13 boxes(various shapes and sizes) full of speedo gears, needles, faces, small parts, some wiper motor parts, used parts, a few clusters in various forms of disrepair. Alot of the stuff is NOS AC Delco, with 97% of the part numbers on the packages. I'll post up some pix of what I have later if anybody's interested in seeing it. My delimma is I don't know what ANY of this stuff fit, or if it's even worth holding on to. Does anyone in here know of anyone in that biz that can shed some light on what I have? For those who don't know, I rebuild headlight motors for the 1st Gen Chargers,(I have on for a later model Charger for Matt that I'm close to getting the kinks worked out on  ;) ) and I also dabble with rebuilding gauges, which is how I wound up with this stuff in the first place.

post some pics and I bet you'll get a few answers as to what it all fits.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Ok, the two similar ones I have circled are parts to a 1955-1956 Chevy Speedometer.  The housing that looks a lot bigger circled is where I believe these parts fit into.  But I'm only about 25% on this one because the top looks different on the housing. I believe it to be the same period year wise though.  Pretty darn sure on the two identical pieces and they are upside down as to how they would actually go.  That big speedo in the lower left of the picture(not circled) might possibly be part of that housing up above that I did circle.  Don't know though.  It might be a period truck speedo though cause it's similar to a 55 shape wise but the bottom is all wrong to me.

Here is a picture of a 55 speedo as well and the inserts circled look like they do fit inside the one in the lower left that is not circled. Have i confused everyone yet.

Well it's a start anyway.

I think the big one you have circled is for a truck. Looks like the oter pices are for a 55 or 56 like you say. Thank you.

Here's a couple other pix.

The two I circled look like the ones from my '73 Duster. :yesnod:

the picture circled appears to be out of a small aircraft, perhaps a cessna. See the red and the green on it, the green is the flying rpm zone for a Cessna 150 IIRC. I could be wrong though. The veda root counter on the gauge has me a little baffled though.  Could be similar to a hobbs meter i guess.  Also, the 4 screw holes on the housing would indicate this belongs on an instrument panel as well.

That reminds me, I should get a med cert and get current again.  :icon_smile_cool:

Do you have a pic of it in the car?

Mike, you're correct, that one did go into an airoplane. I gave it to a friend that builds real cool old school rods. He used to work for an aircraft manufacturer and rattled off what it was and how it worked, and what airplane it went in.

I don't have a picture of mine but here's one off Ebay....

Also, I agree with bordin...it looks like that Pontiac one is from a hood mounted tach.

This one is just like a 1960 CJ-6.

Ghoste

The cylindrical one looks familiar but I can't quite place it; mid 60's Riviera or Toronado?

Tilar

This one looks like part of what Chevy called the TicTocTach that was used in the early Camaro. 68 or 69ish. It's a lot like the clock/tach that were in the Chargers.

From the angle, this one looks like a tach from a Chevy truck from the early 70's. Not many of the pickups had tachs back then and if you look at the dash of a 67 through 72 Chevy pickup, you'll notice beside the speedometer it has a place for a tach.

I seem to remember the Toronados having one similar to that now that you mention it.
