Yucky Year One fender cover

I just got my fender cover from Year one. It's weird. I'm not sure how the thing lays on the fender? It's got several sewn lips on it. Anyone have one of these and know what I'm talking about?  I would of thought it would of been a large foam backed cover, and it's not. It doesn't lay well on the fender. If the first sewn lip laid on the outer fender corner, the 5" wide section would be flat on the top, but the top section is twice as wide, so you would have this 2nd lip mid way across the fender top.  Comments? Pictures?

I don't think I have one from Year One but I think mine does the same thing.....

Looks similar to the Summit covers I bought a while back. They're not heavy or 'grippy' enough IMO.

 got a couple like that from Mancini  a few years back ..look the same ......   i did not bother trying to get them to stay on as they should , i ordered up 2 fender gripper type covers also , lay them on the fender ..then a couple of bath towels with loops sewn at the ends , to hook on hinge & bump stop ,  & i just lay them ones in the  top picture  across the top !  half folded

Mine is kinda uncomfortable. I'll be leaning against it and I'll have a seam digging into me. I've gotten to the point where I'm just like "Whatever, it's a primered fender, theres no harm with putting tools on it".

yeah  would work ok for modern  cars , but made too narrow for a Charger fender ..well any old time mopars   A bods might be ok

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Charger fenders are sooo wide compared to 'regular' cars, this style of cover's never gonna work. I like your solution.

Heat it up in the sun for a while....it will mold into shape....the seams are there to hold it onto the fender as well as hold some tools....I have an old Snap-On one that is molded (now) to my Chargers fender....

toss it in the dryer tied up in a pillow case for a couple of minutes , then put it on the car let it form fit itself .  Do that with my seat covers and they slide right on the seats when upholstering.

summit's are the same way.  They are all junk, but I agree they can hold some tools cause of the welting. The material really scares me cause it just looks like it will scratch.

I like tans idea. Blankets, Towels, etc.... lots of coverage.

When I rebuilt the head on my old 96 Dakota I just layed blankets on the fenders because there was a nice 1inch wide top and it hurt like heck after a few minuits, and it was a work truck so it didnt hurt it to scratch it.
But I almost orderd one of those, glad I didnt.

That's what I've been using towels.  We have lots of them, but because my car is always waxed up, they slide off easy.  So I bit the big one and actually wasted money on a real " Fender protector " and I get that thing.  I'll keep it, but it's not what I expected ( of course ).
