Guess I'm in the don't know-don't care group.  I care a little bit but I didn't buy it for mileage.  If I was using it for a daily driver, I'm sure I'd sing a different song.  I know that if I tank up in Perrysburg, Ohio, it's pretty much empty when I hit the southeast corner of Columbus.

Plumcrazy

360 driven "briskly" around town, 9-10 mpg

If you wanted mileage, you got into the wrong hobby.Maybe trade for a VW Bug, I hear they are collectible now.

I have never understood the discussion of fuel milage on a muscle car forum.

rollingthunder

my 440 4Sp charger got 8 to 10 the 66 satellite with a 383 got  16 to 19,
a friend of mine had a 70 RR with a 440 and a 4Sp overdrive from a aspen
he got 22 to 25 with it.
life's to short have a blast before its gone.

ITSA426

My hemi 4spd car gets about 6.5 on 110 leaded but I didn't buy it for gas mileage.  My RumbleBee, towing the trailer with the hemi car on board gets about 13.  That's better gas mileage than the 10 - 12 mpg that my 440 4spd car can do.  For economy my 318 3 speed Charger gets about 19 on the highway, on regular gas.

Afflyer

I can honestly say that I average 12 MPG with my 440 4bbl.  I baby it, mainly because it's never been rebuilt.  When I'm on the interstate, I don't usually go faster than 60 MPH, to save $$.

I've found that if I keep my tires inflated about four or five pounds more than what's suggested, I can keep my mileage around 12 too.

The stock  '68 383hp in my 70 Charger, spinning 323's out back,  averages around 14mpg. I recorded as high as 16 on the highway at 65 mph. That was with a full load of luggage and one seriously large freind riding shotgun!!!   Al

You mean 1968 or 1970?  Ain't no 1960 Chargers.

Blue Pentastar

My 69 383 gets 14 to 15 hwy at about 75mph and around 12 in town just tooling around without getting in to it.

I use to get about 6 MPG before my rebuild, now I get about 8 to 10 depending on how close to the floorboard I push the pedal.

I think needsSOMEanswers wants us to do her homework for her.

chargerkid

I would never complain about fuel that I put in my Chargers.

I have two daily drivers a V10 Excursion Limited 4x4 and V10 Dodge Ram 3500 dually.  Now thats gas!

Darkness

Well if it matters. I have an E-Body with a 383 bored .030 over, Edelbrock RPM Performer Intake & 750 cfm carb, 484 Mopar Performance Cam; 2.5"  H-Piped Exhaust, Ported 906 Heads, 2800 Stall, 3.55 gears, MSD Coil, and HP Manifolds. And I believe my gas mileage is 11-12 MPG if I keep my foot out of it.

PocketThunder

I just went thru my first two tanks of gas on my 68 440 auto and i got 8.5 and 8.7 mpg!!  woo hoo!!  thats 25% city and 70% highway and 5% idling combined  :icon_smile_big:
