I put a new sending unit in my 69 and it only reads 1/2 full when the tank is full. Does it have to be calibrated to the gauge or do I need a different sending unit. thanks

You'll have to drop the tank and bend the float arm most likely.  Sometimes though, the aftermarket senders are just no good.

I haven't tried this yet with mine, it reads 3/4 full when full.

I remember on this board guys said that you simply take out the sending unit and bend the arm until it is correct.

There is a more recent thread on this started by ChargerCharlie on March 30 2008. I will try to paste in the link here.

yep, and you dont need to drop the tank.  I had to take mine out and put it back in 4 times to get it just right.

All you need to do is undo the fule line and vent line once you are sure the fuel level is below the unit, then use a big flat head screw driver and hammer to tap the lock ring off then pull out the unit.
