So I'm walking to a building and I see this engine covered up alongside a garage.  I take a peek and it's an old Mopar engine.  I went inside and asked about it.  The guy says it's out of a 66 Belvedere sport and going into another mint sport, that needs a better engine ( 383 4bbl 3 spd stick ).  He said the thing runs great but the owner said rebuild it anyway.  Must be nice to have money.

Yeah you just don't see much of this stuff around garages as much anymore.  2 years ago I couldn't even tell you if it was a Mopar motor.

That's a great find! Looks like you found a genuine unmolested 1966-1967 383(HP) motor.

I say unmolested because the right side exhaust manifold is the correct low-rise log style manifold used from the factory (HP engine or not), has the correct valve covers (with large PCV and tab welded to the right side, and correct breather on left) and still has a points distributor...

It appears to be the 330 HP version because it looks like a Carter AFB under that rag.  I'd ditch those log style exh manfolds and go with later HP type (the right side isn't as restrictive as the left).  Nobody wants them.... not even me, a guy who likes things to appear stock.  :D

I'd want that motor... luckilly for me, I have one just like it in my garage. :icon_smile_wink:
