Did you overpay for your Charger?

well yes and no, originally 8k for it but i paid 1.5k to get the drive train put in, so not worth it but getting home could have been harder
if it weren't for making it go up $1,500 no i made out awsome (paid $9700 $200 tip) and the day before i went down he called me and said he wanted $1k more for it i told him to go sell it to someone else, and 5 minuets later my phone started ringing it was him saying hell take what we agreed on, and i almost to him where to go but I'm glad i didn't

nope......right one comes along i will buy....for those wanting muscle car review has an excellent article on current prices..depressed to say the least...you have a golden opportunity to buy now if you so chose...barett jackson has also in fact stated changes are to be expected at this years auction.....clone prices are way way down with only good clean original cars having any chance at holding some value....market for muscle cars is priced accordingly to what a new muscle car sales for (sans rare stuff)....those waiting give it time as there are incredible deals right now and more to come..personally for me its between a charger, olds 442 vert or simply screw the headaches and get a new 2011 shelby GT500 (new challenger vert would be sweet to..but aint goin happen) when the new powertrains arrive...with the new shelby something can be said for having a car you can actually trust

I would like to think that I did not. I had a complete basket case QQ1 1968 Coronet RT that I sold for $3000 prior to buying my 68 Charger RT for $6000. The purchase of the Charger was "justified" by the fact that the Charger's trunk floors and floor pans had already been replaced and the other sheet metal was solid. The Coronet would have needed all new metal all around. I feel I saved a bit of labor but payed for it in the price of the Charger.

Overall I am happy with it. The loan will be paid off in July 2009!

Buying the Charger was/is the most STUPID thing Ive ever done in my life I must have been out of my mind

Did I pay to much for it? -YES!!!!
Will I ever get back what I have spent on it? -HELL NO!!!!!!!

So for better or worse Im probably stuck with this pice of S...it untill the day I die, the cause of death will most likely be the Charger.. and after Im gone, I hope to God that it becomes some other poor Bastrrrds road to ruin and major headache....

I know I overpaid for my 73.  I gave 7k for a 73 Rallye U code non original 440 with a ram charger hood.  I bought it out of PA sight un seen a member tried to look at it for me, but the selle mysteriously could never get with him should have know then It was described as rust free, I guess that meant there was no extra charge for all the rust.  I paid 7k it cost me another thousand in transportation title and tags, and close to a thousand in needed parts before I decided it was just more a project than I wanted to tackle, so I took it to Monster Mopar and offered it for Sale at 9k and would have probably taken an offer of 7k and lost my butt.  After no one made an offer and most even laughed, I decided to create the Wanna Bee 73 super bee.  It has been a lot of fun, but I have 20k or more in it and probably will never get my money back on it
I got a good deal on my 68, I bought 2 68 Chargers out of Nampa Idaho, again sight unseen but the sellers description was right on one was a # matching 383 4v auto on the colum running but in need of full resto the second was a roller that came with a 383 colum shift auto with power window option.  I bought both for $4k, it cost another $1,200 to transport.  I sold the roller for 2k to finance the resto on the other and just had it repainted so I am not sure what I have in it total.
The best deal was probably my 70 Challenger convertible I bought for $1,950.  It was a running driving car. infact it was my daily driver for about 6 years.  I would bet I have more money in that one all total.  I bought it in 1982 and have constently put money in her.

Well in blood, sweat and tears heck yes, cuss words defiantly, pain and aggravation without a doubt, monetary terms not really, it cost me a 1970 Mercury Monterey Convertible, a 1969 Chevy parts truck and a 1976 Ford Thunderbird, the only one that was nice was the convertible,
it was a monster, this thing was wider and longer than any car I had ever seen, I miss that car, but the Charger is a lot more fun, that was 1988 so it has been a day or two.

I recently overpaid for my 71 R/T. It's not the first time I 'bought' a car over the phone, but this one I sent the money before I saw it. Then drove 1000km to get it and was very disappointed because it was simply not as described. More rust yes, but it was more the missing parts off the car. I've lost interest in the car, but can't sell it for what I paid, so I have to part it out. I HATE parting out rare cars, but, oh well, never do that again...

I paid $1925 for my original unrestored '73 SE in 1991.  Since then it's seen a bunch of TLC but it's still the factory paint, top, and interior.  I've painted a few items under the hood but still have the original voltage regulator, ECU, coil, belts, hoses, plug wires, etc.  It also still has the original rubber floor mats and one of the original Polyglas tires as a spare.  I thought it was an o.k. deal back in '91 but now think I did pretty good.

Yep thats my 68, I did the paint and body orignaly and it looked good but definetly had some issues, just had it repainted.

To put it in context, that was a fair amount of dough for a 440-4 speed RR back in 83. I learned a lot from that: Take it slow, don't get excited, have cash ready, keep your eyes open and wait for the right car to come along. Since then, I think I have gotten smokin deals on every classic I've picked up including both of my Chargers, each rust free-drivers purchased for $600 apiece (1987 and 1994)

I feel for everyone who's tried buying into Mopar Muscle cars in last decade. Though I'm done buying cars (      ) and the value of mine are only going down right now, I'm glad to see the prices coming down a bit so that people feel that they are getting value for their money. It's good for the hobby.

I always have been a MOPAR guy so....In 2007 i got rid of my 85 grand prix to get a real car! went to the nationals and found a 66 charger that all body work was done and fresh hemi orange paint on it, it even had hemi on the hood, it looked great the 318 motor was seized and interior needed work, as i was talking with the guy he agreed for me to pay 3,000 for it, as i was calling my dad to get my money down to the show a guy came by and offered cash on the spot for it and the owner sold it to him!!  I was livid but got over it because a week after the show i saw a 72 that caught my eye on ebay. I was very sceptical on getting a car in ebay but i said what the hell! went to go pick it up and the interior was redone, body work done, paint job done, ran and drove! I paid 4,500 for the car and drove it back home from Michigan to n.e. Ohio with no problems!! last winter i overhauled the smallblock, with a airgap intake, cam, headers, 727 trans with rev. manual valve body, bought a center console and a Hurst shifter, flowmaster x pipe exhaust and its great!!! 8 3/4 rear I am a happy camper!!

Paid $1800 for my '68 in June of '71, the day I graduated from HS. Just painted it a couple of wks ago after a 2yr rotisserie resto. One of those rare " I still have my first car" things.

Yes i sure did.Paid 20k for my 69 4 speed in 2011The seller ( a forum member here ) told it was a good running and driving car that only needed some rechroming and a paintjob.
I trusted him and wired him 18k in advance,because i can not travel with such amount of cash overseas.
When i finally came to the u.s. to check the car out,it was way worse than i expected.He changed the hood for a bad one,it was not complete,and the new wheelwell mouldings that were part of the deal were gone when the car arrived here  I was very dissapointed,but i could not get the paperwork ( and car ) if i didn't pay him the other 2k.I've already wired the 18k.So what else could i do?
Turned out it needed almost everything.
So far i have done the following things to my car:

New wiring harnesses
New brakes all around
new mastercilinder
new exhaust
new seals
rear rebuild
new wheels
new wipermotor
new headlights
new ignition lock
new distrubitor
new alternator

I still need to install my new carb,radiator,horn and rechrome everything and change the floorpanels 
So...did i overpay for my charger? i think i was a bit screwed back then.
But when it's finally roadworthy,i forget all of the above and enjoy the car.
